This was my post about Reggie that put his injury-laden career in perspective. He's 8th all-time in Saints scoring (non-kickers...4 more TDs and he moves into 6th) and 2nd all-time in points/game at 3.4 (only behind Deuce). When healthy, he's money. Is he worth his current contract? No. But I rather him on the team than playing elsewhere. If he was picked outside the top 10, a lot of the criticism would be absent.

How the hell was that a flame? He's not exactly the biggest fan of NOLA, and he hasn't tried to hide it.

And I didn't bump it, dick.

I don't think he's gone yet and i don't want him to leave. I think he's a great part of this team. Am i disappointed? Absolutely, because he shows the flashes of brilliance and then bone-heads the next play.

+1.
The offense is better with him on the field. It forces the defense to key on him if he's in the slot or even flanked out wide.
You can do a lot of play variation with him in there: End-arounds and reverses, FAKE end-arounds and reverses, halfback options, screens, draws, sideline mismatch/slip screens, etc.
I just think he's more valuable just being in the game.

seems to me the obvious issue is his salary and that he is unwilling to renegotiate downwards (what is it for 2011 - around 11.6 million right?)

Bobby Hebert can be famously wrong but he was speculating there might be teams doing an end around and telling him or his agent they would pick him up if he was available (so he shouldn't accept a pay cut from the Saints)

If that is what is really going on... and the Saints need him to take a pay cut... they should wait until the free agent period is over and then cut him. If no one else has big money left to spend then those teams doing an end around won't be able to pick him up.

I like Reggie as a Saint but he's just not worth 12 million a year

There's not a RB in this league worth $12m/year.
