Amen.

But I keep rewinding it, watching every play over and over...pausing a lot to go pee. Thats what the coaches do.

I watched the WV game mentioned as a highlight. And he didn't flash or look like the best player on the Longhorns D. Tavon Austin was able to block him on run plays and he was good in coverage but took about 4 bad angles that lead to Huge gains. I'll definitely check out the other games tho. Thanks

Asking a simple question.

Let's say, for argument's sake, that the fifteenth best player is a QB, and all of the top fourteen players are gone. Should the Saints have drafted a QB?

I'm just saying the media always pumps certain guys up and he seems like the got made the best safety in the draft but watching games I don't see it. He is good in college prolly be decent in the NFL. You don't have to have coaches film to actually notice a player making plays.

But sometimes the lack of having to make play does not show up on regular film. I.e. blanketing a receiver so that the quarterback has to go in another direction. In media film, you most likely will not see this, because they will focus on where the play went.

He's a versatile, rangy, technically sound safety. He'll be a fine player.

Who's your top 15?

My thoughts exactly... Name your top 15 based on all the film you've watched

I totally get this. That's why i was objective. i watched and focused on just Vacarro and if he was in man or zone. These are the things i saw.

The Good: Good job dropping in zone.
Decent man to man skills.
Good Tackler.
Size and adequate speed.

The Bad: Bad Angles to the ball.
Blocked very easily.

Those are the things that jumps out at you. Obviously coaches and scouts have more time and better assets to review these things. But you can tell a playmaker when you see one.

For Example there are some times when Jarvis Jones took games over and his play alone had a impact on the game. Just never saw that with Vacarro.

who are those safeties? what games did reid impress you in? You wanna talk about taking bad angles, watch him against ole miss

He also didn't have a great front 7 like LSU had to give him breaks constantly.

For the most part, safeties have not been discussed on this board for the last month. There has been some discussion, but we've focused most of the attention on OLBs. Now all of a sudden, one day after we select a safety, people are coming out of the wood works talkin about all the game tape they studied. Complete bullshite.

True. There are a clear lack of splash plays. Also, the bad angles are a concern and my one real worry with him is whether he's more wanting to make a big hit or to actually tackle the ball carrier.

I admit, Vaccaro, was not who I wanted with the pick. But, I'm trying to work with it.

He's got a lot of experience and he was all over the field last year. Single high, down near the line of scrimmage as a strong safety, nickel, blitzing..he's very very versatile and very very fundamentally sound.

His technique is good as a DB so that lends itself well. He's faster than his 40 time tells you, and he's good in man coverage with the ability to line up against tight ends and handle his business.

It's an improvement at an area of need so I can't complain about this at all.

Not acting like a GM, i didn't say the Saints were idiots for picking Vacarro. I asked a question and just no straight answer. A couple posters provided actually feed back and that i do appreciate.

no, in terms of best football ability.

well that doesn't make much sense

there are other safety options of similar ability that will cost a lot less

Yeah hoping for this. Maybe with NFL coaching his angles and wrapping up can be fixed.
