Serious: Why is Winston not on the IR?

I mean this isn’t a sore shoulder or knee bruise. This is multiple fractured vertebrae in his back. Does the injury just sound worse than it really is? He’s clearly not right so why not just play Dalton and let our starter heal correctly?

Yes but if it’s a lingering problem why haven’t we put him on IR? That’s my question

Possibility of a return sooner. Even if they want to go with Dalton as the starter, they probably want Winston available in case of an injury. IR should have happened before week 2 and would be a minimum of 4 games, at this point they may view it as too late to put him on IR

Every game only 46 of the 53 are active. The 7 in-actives are reserved for short term injuries like Winston's (and MT and AK) but will be filled with other lower need players if there aren't 7 injured players.
