This surprises me, they wanted to get away from the training facility so the players could really bond by being around each other 24/7, must be some unnamed economic reason forcing them to stay at home. But I am excited because now I can see them

I've made the trip to Jackson twice over the past few years and daaaamn is it a long day. I'll be there with bells on this year. Plus I can bring my 2 year old now.

To those who have been to a camp before...

I live in Laffy and would love to go to a camp practice. Do they sign autos and stuff? Do you just sit at some bleachers a watch? Are there other things to do there?

ETA: I would just like some specifics.

Yes they do, but you will get ragged pretty hard from posters if your not a child. The players tend to go towards kids mostly. I've actually been able to shake hands and talk to players like Michael Lewis and Fred McF.

There's usually two practices. One that starts at 8is and another at 3ish. After the morning practice one or two guys will stay for a minute and sign. The afternoon actually has a few players designated each day to do this. Usually Drew does it everyday bcs he's the shite. In the past Reggie hasn't been all that great at this.

Nope. It's hot as shite. Sounds gay, but bring an umbrella and sunblock. Trust me.

Thanks for the info

I am a child....

I know the website will put up some instructions and stuff but this stuff came to mind right away.

Also, is there a cost involved? How long do the practices last? Do they sell refreshments?

ETA: Sorry if I'm being stupid....if you choose not to answer all of this, I understand.

up yours, Jackson.

Best news I've heard since we got Gregg Williams on board.

It was always so amazing to me that the State of Louisiana is subsidizing the Saints to the tune of $15-$20 million dollars a year and yet we export training camp and hundreds of hotel rooms per night to another state.

WTF was that all about?

It is completely free to get in. Practices usually go for about 2 hours or so each. Sometimes they do cool stuff like 7 on 7 where you get to see your skilled players shine. Other times they have just done some generic drills. You will for sure learn a lot about new players if you go.

In Jackson, they sold beer, powerade, and water. No food though.

If I was driving from Laf, I would wonder these things too before I made the hike.

Let's say 200 hotel rooms (players, coaches, media) at $100 a night (probably a close guess to a Saints discount offered to all affiliated) times 30 nights (give or take).

That's $600,000 in hotel expenses alone that the Saints were exporting to Mississippi.

Never mind the catering, restaurants, gas stations, Wal-Marts, etc.

These are the same asshats who wouldn't let Louisianians take their highway exits when fleeing from Gustav last August. frick them.

Why would the players and coaches be in hotels in New Orleans during training camp?

Good for New Orleans. Bad for Me

Just got transfered to Jackson and the only bright spot was the possibility of being close to Saints training camp

That scrimmage in the prison stadium - er uh, JSU's stadium last was hotter than hell.

I think it hit like 100... absolutely miserable.

Umbrellas were a pre-req.

good points Alejandro, I'd like to see you post more around here than SR. Somethings are kinda kewler here to me. The tard factor gets rough sometimes, but without the nazis of SR a few more knowledgeable fans could make it better ratio wise. There's a lot of chaff to sift through there.
