let me clarify my view point, so people may begin to understand me more..... i don't start out negative, nor do i make so called "negative" comments just to make them..... had our defense given me something to feel good about, i would have been just as "positive" as i was "negative"....

i'm just very real in my comments as it relates to what i see out there..... i'm not going to gloss over it just because this is my team... if they don't have all the pieces of the puzzle and it's likely inevitable that they will get bounced before the Super Bowl, i'm going to call it like i see it..... typing that here will get you labeled as "negative", i get that much..... and like i have said, i know that not everyone appreciates/likes a realistic, unbiased commentary on OUR favorite team, but that's what i do..... if you go back and look, i've never thrown this team under the bus after a loss, but i have pointed out that we were not where a championship team needs to be defensively.... i just want to clear the air, but i'm not backing down from my stance....

and another thing, i don't think being more critical of a team makes you any less a fan of said team..... you don't have to always have a nice word when talking about a team to be considered a good fan.... and just like some here don't like anything negative said, i don't really like the ultra positive spin.... if the falcons fanbase did what this board sometimes does, they'd be called delusional, but because it's our team that we are talking about, it's acceptable.... i'm just saying there needs to be a balance of fandom and reality, and for some they stray too far from reality.... i choose not to, but again, to each his own....

I did vote, shitstain. And I made a statement that you deserved consideration for one of the awards. I can't remember. It may have been one of the two or three I took home. I was so drunk that night and full of frick I can't recall. Someone go back in the thread and find it. I'm too busy polishing my balls.....

Your criticisms seem to drown out your team support in both amount and volume.

For me it has to do with what I'd call the trajectory of the franchise. When I think they are doing things right and headed in the right direction I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt and am supportive of moves until they are clearly wrong and they move on.

The trajectory of the last 3 years is on track for me. You may hit it right and have 3 SB wins in 4 years like the Pats. In the same era though the Colts were arguably on the same level of elite performance. They were in the playoffs 11 of 12 yrs, 7 consecutive yrs with 12+ wins, but only one ring to show for it. There's a degree of luck that comes into play. I think the '11 Saints were more talented than the '09 Saints. The '09 team had a boatload of good bounces go their way though. Washington & Minnesota games come to mind. 5 INTs returned for TDs that year.

I have no problem criticizing particular points. Mine are tempered by success of recent years and that trajectory I see going forward. I was pro-Haslett for a year. The 4 game collapse in '01, stubbornly keeping in Brooks when injured in '02, replacing Sammy Knight with Tebucky Jones, Wayne Gandy having a recliner in the locker room, etc- the trajectory quickly and clearly looked wrong. I still hoped (against hope) but I was loudly on the fire his (and Venturi) arse bandwagon.
