He wasn't put back on the practice squad he actually never came off. New rules your allowed to promote 2 players per week without cutting a player to make room for the promoted player or signing the player to active roster. Murray had the option to stay but he choose to sign with Denver.

They signed him off the practice squad due to Javonte Williams season ending injury. He could have stayed but he jumped at the chance to have a more prominent role there and was likely offered a good deal. He had a pretty good game against the Vikings but he's not a pass catcher or special teams player so that's why no one picked him up all season until the Saints and now Denver. I suspect Kamara should be back this week.
