Looks like Snead isn't listed on the final 53.

No idea, if I had to guess I would say LeRibeus. I'm just glad Bighill will be back tomorrow though.

Bighill still has to clear waivers though.

I guess the thought process was do we risk Edmunds, Loewen, or Bighill and the depth at LB made them lean Bighill (though all 3 spots are loaded, LB has the most legit starters with 5).

And yeah Leribeus (or another lineman if we switch out) likely stays until Snead comes back as Armstead should be close by then.

Or maybe at that point we try to sneak someone like Loewen or Edmunds onto the PS (not saying we should but that may be the move).

Also FunBunch owes me an apology after rubbing the Bighill cut in my face. :p

Won't be Lasco. He does too much on special teams. Edmunds could get there but he's not yet.

And after going through the options Edmunds does make the most sense to get cut once Snead comes back.

Edit:
Forgot Tapp actually made it. Don't think we carry 10 DL that long. So I could see Edmunds staying and Tapp going when Snead comes back.

Alex Jenkins was also waived, but it's just a technical procedure as he won't actually go through waivers and be added to our practice squad as the special exemption 11th memeber.

Per Underhill:

quote:

Bighill, Calhoun, Dural, Fullington, Grayson, Griffin, Gwacham, Lampman, Maulet, Sokoli, Tom, Turner and Victor

are PS eligible. I expect a few players from other teams to be added though.

If just picking from our guys then yeah I'm thinking so, with maybe one or two changes (do we put 2 CBs on the PS being the big question; may bring in a S from outside).

I don't really either, but he looked better than Dural for sure. I'd rather bring in an outside receiver for the PS.

Surprises for me:
Edmunds, LeRibeus, Loewen on the team

3 tackles (I 100% expected Harris or Barnes until Armstead was back), No bighill or mcdaniel.

Leribeus over Harris/Barnes surprised me as well, but then you consider Peat and Kelemete can slide outside if need be. So if Kelemete has to start at guard/tackle you need someone else to backup center.

Look at it this way: Would you rather see Peat, Kelemete, Leribeus, Warford, Strief or Harris, Peat, Kelemete, Warford, Strief? The idea of Harris or Barnes needing to start was scary. Leribeus is at least a good blocker at G/C despite his high snap issue.

I was expecting Cadet to stay with the Snead suspension but I'm very happy they went Edmunds instead. Victor or the other receiver didn't do enough on special teams to make it (and the receivers didn't do enough as receivers either).

Loewen earned his spot for sure both on defense and special teams, and I thought Tapp would be the one cut. But they went with 7 DEs, which is probably the biggest surprise to me.

McDaniel wasn't going to be in the rotation at tackle with how good Rankins, Davison, and Onyemata played, plus the fact that Jordan, Hendrickson, and Loewen can all slide inside of need be. They didn't want to guarantee his higher salary for sure (but oddly did so with Tapp).

Bighill is rumored to be brought back tomorrow if he clears waivers once Breaux goes on IR (needed to be on the initial 53 to be eligible to return).

Edit:
Actually the biggest surprise is they didn't cut Daniel and bring back McCown immediately, but the poor guy did just have a kid.

I thought McDaniel would have a bigger vet role than an on field role, but loewen looked good and Tapp can play that role I guess.

Thinking about it, any injury at tackle at this point means peat shifts out and kelemete/leribeus goes at LG. The positive about him being cross trained like kelechi osemele allows us to have the best backup lineman as opposed to needing a tackle

Exactly. I, for one, never want to see Harris in a real game again.

On McDaniel, I guess I could see a mentor angle, but not all guys are cut out for that. And as you said Tapp fills that role and was here last year so guys know him already.
