I would rather Rudi Johnson

Personally, I think Lynell Hamilton or Mike Bell can be more productive than Edgerin James at this point...and you could bet neither one of them would bitch about money or the number of carries they're getting. I want RB's with fresh legs...the one's who are chomping at the bit to get on that field by any means possible.

Hopefully pick up a 3RD AND 1

Career??? Did I miss something?
Not confirmed yet AFAIK.
People are making assumptions because of the type of injury he was reported to have (ruptured Achilles) that he's done without ever playing a down.

I like this idea. I think that Edge realizes no one is beating the door down and he must take what he can get. Most NFL teams have two potential starters now instead of one featured back. I think this will work out nicely provided everyone stays healthy and we actually run the ball in some sort of consistent way.
I don't think that just Thomas and Bush are the way to go this season. I've been wanting them to get another back for a while. As long as they don't have to break the bank to get him, it sounds like a good deal.

Is there anything wrong with selling him on a one year deal for league minimum, then bring him in to camp, and if it's painfully obvious that Bell or any of the rookies are closely compared to him production wise, that we straight cut his arse. Booooom. That's business.

i dunno....Edge isn't exactly a pile mover like Deuce was....isn't that what we're looking for?....i like the fact that he will have no problem picking up blitzes and knowing his assignments....i think i like it because we could use that proven veteran back that's gotten it done....hopefully he can teach a few of the young backs the nuances of the position...

So you are comfortable with just Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas in our backfield going into the 2009 season?
Posted on 5/19/09 at 2:12 pm to alajones
i'm not comfortable with Reggie in my backfield period..

We don't have "just" Bush and Thomas. We've got FB Heath Evans, RB Mike Bell, RB Herb Donaldson, RB PJ Hill, and a bunch of other potential backs we're bringing into camp.
I don't want to put money into a washed-up star who whined all last year about his lack of touches when there's a chance that a young guy can develop into a long-term solution.

I pray that we don't sign him. Have no idea what the coaching staff is thinking about in even considering Edge.

Well, we will see. I understand about not wanting a whiner on the team. But I'm not of the opinion that all those others you mentioned = Edge.

We'll see. They don't have to be Edge as long as they can convert a 3rd down.
Even then, I'm wondering how much of Edge's success in Indy was due to the Colts' line considering that Addai was able to walk in and immediately excel there.

quote:I understand your assesment. It just seems that the NFL is trending toward having two starting caliber RBs for each team. Pierre Thomas is one, Bush is not. IMO, neither of those others you mentioned are either. So if Thomas goes down, which isn't that unlikely, for any length of time, there we are. Reggie and a bunch of practice squad guys.
