Are the road games based on where we played the teams in that division last time?

I haven’t been to a saints road game in a long time other than the Texans a few years ago. Those Chicago and Seattle games are intriguing.

Please let the bears game be in the first half of the season. Do not want to play in Chicago in December or later.

We manage to keep avoiding cold weather cities for the most part each year. Next year Chicago seems to be the only one on the list and even in 2020 it’s pretty much only Chicago and Denver.

that was going to happen even if the South wasn't matched with the NFC West next year. The #1 teams in each division are matched up against the same teams the next season

YES AND NO.

1) Yes---Your cross division games rotate. In this case the Saints play the NFC West and the AFC South. They will travel to Seattle and LA Rams because last time those teams came here and the Saints will host the 49ers and Cardinals because we went there.

2) No---Your Strength of Schedule games are predetermined by year. So next year the Saints travel to the NFC North #1 and host the NFC East #1. So we end up on the road with Chicago and hosting Dallas. If it had been the year to go on the road to the NFC East we would have had back to back trips to Dallas. These games are not decided until the standings are final. 1s vs 1s, 2s vs 2s, 3s vs 3s and 4s vs 4s.

This year all of the NFC South Teams will visit the NFC North teams. If the season ended right now.

Saints to Chicago
Panthers to Vikings
Falcons to Green Bay
Tampa to Detroit

All of the NFC East teams visit the NFC South, so

Dallas to NO
Wash to Caro
Philly to Atl
Giants to Tampa

I delightfully correct you in saying that Tampa is the 3rd place team currently so Atlanta as we stand right now sits at the bottom of the division.

So Tampa would go to Green Bay (old school NFC Central battle of the “bays”), Atlanta to Detroit. And Philly plays at Tampa, Giants go to Atlanta.
