I agree. With 2:25 and third down, he calls a pass play. Why? The Pats have one timeout and the two minute warning.

Pass was incomplete. Could have wasted 25 seconds or forced the Pats to waste a timeout.

Because I said I want Payton fired and replaced? Do you think that was a good play call in that situation? You do understand that it's okay to critique someone without hating that person right?

So where's the "fire Peyton party" at? Give me a break...worst play calling in Saints history? Don't think so...I've seen MUCH worse than that, does the name Jim Haslett ring a bell?

In Saints history? No. But was it horrible play calling? Yes. Just because the man is a Hall of Fame coach doesn't mean he always makes brilliant calls nor does it absolve him from being called out on it when he does.

The incomplete pass to Colston gave NE a free time out. Worst call.

Yes, we needed a safe pass at that point

IMO, if you know you're gonna throw it at some point, do it on 2nd down, not 3rd. Better chance at catching them off guard. And, you can still run it up the middle on 3rd.

Payton made good calls they just didn't work out.
Payton made a bunch of safe calls and that strategy didn't work.

Bootleg might have worked on 1st down, but since everyone saw Payton run it last week, 3rd down wasn't the time to run the play.

jesus christ, the Saints are lucky to have him. Football teams lose games on the road. The Pats took Jimmy Graham out of the game, that was the difference.

So that makes him above criticism?

Too conservative. NE stacked the line and made the stop every time. Can't give Brady three chances.

They ran what seemed like 30 screen passes all game.....if you want a safe pass on the 3rd down to run clock/make Pats use last TO and maybe get a 1st down run your 31st screen pass.
