As great as Brees has been, I still think Payton approaches the game as a system, not as a talent show. Griffin looks like he has surpassed McCown after 1 season, so in 4-5 years he will likely be very familiar with the Saints's scheme, and in his physical prime. I have the feeling the next guy won't be expected to match Brees' numbers, but just run an efficient offense. Griffin may have a better shot, just by being the right guy at the right time, than somebody being drafted in 2 years.
