The QB spiking the ball to stop the clock should be considered intentional grounding. He's not throwing to anyone. So what's the difference? Not a thing. Penalty
wow some people really need to learn the rules on intentional grounding. the qb is not under pressure and technically everyone is in the vicinity. do you really need him to take an extra step back and throw it at the rb's feet?

Dude, did you read the title of this thread? I know what the rule is. Therefore I would like to see it changed.
Also, who's to say, after watching what Troy Polamalu did last year, that at any given play the QB isn't under duress from the snap.

so you effectively want to destroy almost every teams 2 minute drill?
i see what the thread is called, i was responding to your post where you said why is it not considered intentional grounding

Two minute drills don't always call for QB spikes.

they do when you have no more time outs at the end of the game, which is a common occurrence

You really want to not allow spiking the ball?
There are more pertinent things to worry about in the rulebook than spiking the ball.. I think it's perfectly fair. You lose a down and all.

Oh well. Get the ball out of bounds then.

Let them hit again. Horse collar is BS. You can't touch a QB. You can't hit hard or it is a penalty. The game has been ruined IMO.
