I still think the trade rumor is bullshite, but if this information is accurate then it makes things a bit more interesting.

quote:

One thing that I think is worth noting is that there is nothing that keeps Revis from being a one year rental. I have heard many people state that a team will not trade for Revis if they do not think they can work out a long term deal with him. Why? A team that acquires Revis will only take on a $6 million dollar cap hit in 2013. That hit is made up of $3 million in salary and $3 million in bonuses that are paid out on March 17th, after the completion of workouts, and finally for reporting to training camp. That is a dirt cheap price for a team trading for a star cornerback that thinks he is the final piece of a win now team.

So if we trade for him after march 17 he will only be a 3 million dollar cap hit. Is that correct?

No, I don't think so. I think it is $6 million this year unless we give him a new contract because the $3 million bonus is part of his current contract which we would inherit. It looks like he is a lot more affordable than I originally thought though, at least as a one year rental.

Eta: nm I read your post wrong. I don't know.

I hate to be the buzzkill, but we're not getting revis even as a one year rental. I do wish we could get him though.

From a good friend who has a good friend that works for the team. He also told me that Harper was the snitch about Spags, and last offseason he told me that we were gonna sign some big name FA even with limited cap room.

"From what I'm being told thus far, Sean Payton wants to make a splash... Benson wants to give the fans something to be excited about.

Word is the team is cooking something up but people within the orginazation keeping a tight lip.

So I do expect something unexpected and if we were to land Revis, that would be the ultimate....

It also makes sense too, Ryan covets top man corners for his defense and the Falcons "from what I hear" are trying to get into the mix. Landing him would do all 3 things.

1. Please & SHOCK the fans
2. Give Ryan what he covets
3. Play keep away from Atlanta

Oh yeah... STICK IT TO GODELL!!!

Trade Ingram, Harper, and our 1st rounder to the Jets for Revis. Get the Bama stench out of the city.

If we were able to get Revis without giving up a ton of draft picks (by adding in players) then I'd be all for it. But dammit I'm tired of losing draft picks. That shite is going to catch up with us.

We should definitely give up Harper and our 2nd rounder this year. Sounds like a fair trade to me. Come on down Revis!!

It already has. 5 picks this year. Frisco has what....15?
BTW. Can they really keep that many pics? They don't have that many roster spots open. Can you have too many pics in a draft I guess is the question if your team is already loaded with talent?

They are going to use many for trades, which is why trading with us would be a good option for them. They can make so many moves, plus they aren't hurting in cap space.
