If you were a big time OC that was getting looks at HC jobs...
Would you really want this job or would you bide your time?
Absent ownership
Frontoffice that has done a dreadful job and will never be fired
HORRIBLE Cap situation with no end in sight
Aging or expensive talent
QB that you are absolutely stuck with for 1-2 years that stinks
Who would want that situation?

Sometimes that's not the case.
Look at the time we got Sean Payton. We're coming off Katrina, New Orleans is devastated,and a perennial losing organization. What free agents wanted to come here?
Somehow we managed to get Sean Payton. Was it luck ? Possibly. But I know one thing he was hungry to be a head coach.
Would you want a guy that has his pick of jobs ( The shiny new toy that everyone wants) or a guy that's hungry enough to take a head coaching job offered to him?

Agree, and when we do it he needs to be an alpha with millennial player management skills.
