shite in all the talk about Brees becoming a FA impacting our cap, I forgot it's still technically a 3 year deal unless they reworked that last year into the others.

Since his contract isn't voiding he's still under contract next year and the year after (even if the final year doesn't have a salary).

$6 mil doesn't sound right for this year, but the signing bonus can be spread more than I thought when they said 2 year, no added dummy years.

There is no way to have only a $6 million cap hit when the there was already $18 million of prorated cap hit and the contract has $27 million in guarantees.

18M from last deal plus 50 from this one = 68M total

If this year only counts 6M... that means next year cap hit is 62M. Whether the Saints pick up the option or not. Only way around that is to kick the can even further down the road.

My guess is the cap hit is more like 24... 18 from prior plus 6 from new. Still makes next year 44M
