Didn't realize he was that high up. He's still relatively young and could move up rapidly, given a little continuity in the makeup of the team. He could easily move into the top 25. Not sure how accurate this list is: winningest NFL coaches

Payton, already the winningest coach in franchise history, scaled another mountain that day, too – he surpassed the legendary Vince Lombardi with his 106th all-time victory, including playoffs. And there are more rungs to climb for Payton, perhaps beginning with Sunday’s game featuring the Saints (7-2) and Washington (4-5) in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Saints’ winning streak now has reached seven games after last Sunday’s 47-10 victory over Buffalo.

Fun fact: If we go 7-0 to end the year and 16-0 next year, Payton will only have 1 more win than Mike McCarthy currently has....never would have guessed that!

Bounty gate really screwed Payton. Up until that since he becane HC of the Saints in 06 until his suspension in like 12.. no other coach in the entire NFL had more wins than him. Not even the Pats.
He missed a full season then it just never was quite the same until now..

Is this supposed to mean something? Both coached in different eras of NFL football with different schedule game amounts per year and different championship formats, I mean Coach Lombardi achieved a winning record with his teams every single season he was HC and a much better W-L pct, when Payton starts surpassing the 16 game giants of the profession, HMU

For a franchise that has had more bad seasons than great ones, I would say it's pretty good.
