i was thinking the same thing. The FO could see a deal with sharper not working out and want to go after a young ball hawk to replace him. If this happens i would be behind their decision 100 percent

Maybe they want to take this guy.?
I like this, but I'm still kind of worried about our front 7. We really do need help there...anybody know if there are any other FA's we are still after?

What's really going to be anti-climatic is when i stay up to midnight only to hear "The Saints have traded the 32nd pick to _________"

The Saints are/were very high on Dorsey so I wouldn't be surprised if he is involved with Brown on a draft day deal. Though IMO Brown has a lot more value right now than Dorsey so I could see a deal involving GD and #5 for Brown and #64.
KC gets the LT they REALLY want and they get rid of a high $$ guy that does NOT fit in their scheme at all.

fwiw it would take more than that because i remember ATL turning down our 1 and 2 that year and our future 1 to grab Dorsey.

You sure your're not looking at a 2 year old article from the Dorsey draft?

A trade with KC does have a certain degree of credibility to it. As others have said, KC has a ton on money tied up in the early picks over the last few years.
KC has one of the lowest payrolls in the NFL, somewhere around $80m (vs. $135m right now for the Saints).

I would love for the Saints to make a deal to move up in the draft this year. I know everyone seems to think the best strategy is to keep all your picks because of how deep the draft is this year, but I look at it as getting an elite player to fill a need is better than two good players.
If we are going to repeat as SB champs, all we need is a dominant DT or OLB (if we resign Sharper).

But that player's contract is going to affect your ability to keep your current good players. If you can deal JB and maybe a 4th or 6th for Haynesworth, it would actually be about the same to pay him and every other pick you have in the draft than to pay that #5 guy, plus you wouldn't have to give up JB plus the early picks.

I have no problem with trading JB and a later pick for a stud like Haynesworth, I just don't want the Saints to sit back and use the #32 and #64 picks without either trading up or acquiring a stud in FA.

Agreed. We should make a move on somebody or the draft.

even if McCoy is gone by then i'd trade up for Berry.
Posted on 4/16/10 at 12:28 pm to Acreboy
At first I didn't like the idea of Berry, because I am only thinking about repeating, but Berry would be one of those guys that could dominate for years.
However, I want to improve the D from last year, not just replace Sharper with a younger Safety and not get better at DT or OLB.

eric berry would be absolutely bad arse... words cannot descibed how pumped i'd be if he fell outside the top 5 and saints were able to make a play for him.. i agree that this year is not a bad idea to move to the top.

if we can sign Hargrove long term, keep Ayodele around and get productivity out of DeMario Pressley i think we're good at DT and as far as OLB...They seem pretty high on JoLon Dunbar and Jon Cassilas.
Posted on 4/16/10 at 12:38 pm to Acreboy
they do seem very high on casillas.
i don't think dunbar so much.. they are just content there.

not as BAD as some think. we could use another stop gap this year if need be. i'd lose it if we had a shot at McCoy this year.
