*BREAKING* DE Okafor To Visit With #Bucs READ:

Though the Bucs have spent some of their free agency budget already on their defensive line, mainly on the interior, that won’t stop them from going full circle and examining some edge rushers, too. PewterReport.com has learned that former Cardinals and Saints defensive end Alex Okafor will be visiting the Buccaneers on Thursday. Okafor (27) was drafted in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft — he was drafted by now Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht. He was also coached by now Buccaneers defensive line coach Brentson Buckner, where he recorded his career best eight sacks in 2014. Okafor has 18 sacks in his five years in the NFL. Okafor is coming off an Achilles tear in 2017, his only year with the Saints. In the 10 games he played last season, he recorded 4.5 sacks and had already recorded a career single-season high 43 tackles. The Bucs are bringing him in to check on his rehab and see if he could be a match in this free agency class. Okafor is 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, and would likely play the edge role in a 4-3 formation, but certainly could stay versatile as he often did under Buckner’s coaching in Arizona, if he ends up in Tampa Bay.

That’s what happens on these one year prove it deals.

Forget about Okafor. Target Suh or Richardson....actual proven, consistent talents that aren’t coming off a torn achilles.

Should sign him to a one-year prove-it-again-deal

He's visiting and checking on rehab.
He probably got his offer from saints which isn't alot and seeing what Tampa s offering.
We need a backup plan .
There are guys out there under the radar guys just like he was last year.
Parnell McPhee.
Adrian clayborn who I don't want.
Trent Murphy would have been nice but he got 21 mil

would he be able to pass a physical at this point? I would have to think that TB has no clue what they are getting. An achilles injury can derail a career.

I remember reading the whole reason he signed with the Saints last season was because he is best buds with Kenny Vaccaro. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him walk. Would love to resign tho.
Speaking of Vaccaro. He doesn’t seem to be getting much love.

No. This is just a how's it coming along, if you get healthy we'd be interested meeting.
Probably has more to do with the coach he knows there.
As for offers, I doubt any team is giving him an offer as their cap situation can change a lot between now and when he gets healthy. Not good to promise something you don't know you can deliver on.
