You realize rankings are arbitrary right?

Sure, but the general consensus is that Cooks and Beckham are considered to be the better receivers. Most scouts are saying this. I realize that these people often get these things wrong, and there are often reaches, but I didn't find this one that probable.

You think every team has these WRs ranked exactly the same?

No. They go for what would fit their team.

Again, I like Matthews. I realize there are often reaches, and I realize teams have different rankings for WRs and other positions. I just don't see Matthews going in the top 20.

While true, that doesn't even matter. It's all about value. Why draft him in mid first when you can get him in the second?

frick I'll do it.

With the 19th pick in the Saints Talk 2014 Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select Zack Martin, OT Notre Dame.

I can see where Lester might be coming from with his pick. The Jets have a recent bust at WR in Stephen Hill and might want a more polished WR. I mean Cooks is quick but small while Beckham is slightly bigger but has had somewhat inconsistent hands. Matthews has good size, good speed, and great hands. Also played outside and in the slot and has some punt return experience.

I doubt anyone casual fan really expected the Jaguars to take Tyson Alualu #10 a few years ago. Surprises happen in the draft every year.

Edit: On the other hand, I recall reading recently that the Jets were interested in Kelvin's size.

quote:

Jets are very intrigued by Florida State WR Kelvin Benjamin, per team source. He’ll be visiting #NYJ. “You can’t teach 6-5,” I was told.

How do you know he won't be?

The general consensus is Matthews is a late 2nd round - early 3rd round prospect. Draft projections aren't perfect but they usually aren't a round and a half off either.

I actually like Matthews and think he should be a Saints target in the 2nd if they go non-WR in the first.
