All of my friends went to that game. I had tickets but couldn't settle a trial I had scheduled for the following week so had to pass.

The stories are horrific.

One friend got punched in the back of the head so hard at a urinal it knocked him to the ground. Another is black and got called the "n" word so many times he lost count. Lots of katrina comments "Wish you didn't know how to swim" "Not enough of you people died" etc.

I was there and never saw anything like some say and never had one bad katrina comment. Was there with three of my family members (two brothers and a brother in law).

When we were walking down Waldron Dr. to go to the game there was a group of Bears fans in a black and orange station wagon riding around with FEMA signs on the side throwing water bottles at Saints fans and yelling "that's to make you feel at home."

Never Forget!

I don't get this. The entire Saints fanbase is supposed to be dicks, rude, arrogant, taunt, fight, etc the Bears fans that come to New Orleans for a football game because of some douche's sign 5 years ago?

Honestly, you guys realize that the few bears fans that are coming to this game are (more than likely) rich, older, classy fans right?

Being dicks is only going to make these rich, older, classy(er) Bears fans go home and talk about how shitty Saints fans are, etc. Just seems rather counter productive to me... but whatta I know?!

I agree that we shouldn't necessarily stoop to their level. You are right when you say SOME of the fans who fly down are not the same South Side cretin types...
I don't believe we should curse them or even verbally abuse them or touch them at all; in fact we should be polite and welcoming to the ones who are polite.
But if one of them says something I don't like, I am NOT going to hold my tongue.
And I would not be against MENTIONING some of the following to even the good fans:

* I watched New Orleans newsman Glynn Boyd get verbally and physically taunted by Bears fans WHILE HE WAS ON THE AIR before the Jan. 2007 playoff game between the Saints and Bears.
* I was at Soldier Field on January 6, 1991 when we lost 16-6. I did not get hit by snowballs, but I was hit square in the back with a cigar, and right in front of my seat with a plastic cup.
But that's NOTHING to the things these things had the nerve to say to us walking back to our car.

* (OTHER RESPONSES IN THIS THREAD):
(1) Made that trip in '07 and if every fricking Bears fan that shows up gets raped in the arse by a cactus I'd be ok with it. A guy in the concession line asked me if my house was flooded. I told him that I no longer lived there and then mid sentence he cuts me off and starts going off on how NOLA is such a shithole anyway and how it was God's way of telling that city it's time to change and all this shite. I cut him off and told him that my entire family still lived there and lost everything they ever had and his response was that's what you get when you live in such a shitty city. I got in his face and some hunchback security guard got between us. Everytime I went to the bathroom one of those idiots would flush the toilet and yell, "look Saints fans, you're city is being flushed again." It must have been pretty bad in the ladies room too because I saw more than a few women come out with tears in their eyes. Those fans were inhumane.

Weren't you just telling us not to change our opinions based on one fan?

(two posts later)

I'm now hating on the saints because one guy on an internet board said something I don't like.

Dayum, got me on that one. Good point.

Really though, I was just looking for an excuse because I'm cap'n grumpy pants this weekend. I think Philly is gonna throttle ATL.

wow. if only it was just "a guy with a sign"

Im just glad to finally get these figs down in the Dome...the last three times we've had to go up there and play them in the fricking snow. The time before that they played in one of those awful games in Tiger Stadium.

No mercy.

Wrong. Bears fans will be watching on tv. It's like racisim ( )just because it was 5 years ago, does not mean they dont think the same way.

I dont think they deserve any respect. I am not above saying someone should make a sign that says something in the form of, "Making Urlacher cry for his mom".

They mocked New Orleans. The recovery for a whole city in a storm that caused the deaths of 1000+.

Chicago and Atlanta, frick 'em.
