Michael Thomas Heavily Involved In Monday's Practice

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has infamously played in just 10 games over the last three seasons, but he was reportedly very involved in Monday's team drills, making several big plays. Saints beat writer Katherine Terrell said most of the top plays of the day (Monday) involved Thomas and quarterback Derek Carr targeted him often. This is a positive development for the 30-year-old receiver who seems to be healthy at this point in the offseason for the first time in a while. Thomas caught 16 passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns in just three games last season, so he could have more juice left in his body than many expect.
This is encouraging. These were the plays involved according to the recap thread:
- Carr and Thomas connected three more times during team periods. On the first one, Carr hit Thomas on a short curl route. Thomas had to go down to make the grab. Then, they connected again on a slant route. In the final team period, Carr scrambled out of the pocket and found Thomas on the sideline for a first down.
- The pair would’ve had four completions, but on one slant route during the final team session, Marshon Lattimore was there to knock the ball away.

If the Saints are smart, I would play him as little as possible during preseason games
I want to see it on Sunday opening weekend

As a physical therapist of 17 years I disagree. The guy needs to harden his body for consistent football again. The only way to do that is to actually play football at or very near full speed.
It’s the final step in returning to full function.
He can do all the workouts in the world in shorts but if he can’t do his actual job in a game scenario it’s not going to matter if he can play a couple games at the start of the year before breaking down again.

All that’s probably true, but I think they value those joint practices more than preseason games. And we’ve got 2 scheduled this camp? These days, I’m not sure how “full-speed” preseason games are anyway except for the guys trying to win or hold onto a job.

If we get 80% of MT's four healthy years that comes out to
94 recs. 6.4 tds 1150 yds. I'll gladly take it.

If a player is ready for game one I hope that happens for a lot of the vets. The team vs team practices are always productive too.

Until week 3 when he strains a pubic hair and announces he’s out for the season.

Trade his arse while he's healthy

He just signed a new contract in March that was more team friendly and incentive laden for him. He's not going anywhere this year.
