Saints Coach Sean Payton officially confirmed that cornerback Mike McKenzie will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season with a broken right kneecap. And fullback Mike Karney will miss two to four weeks with a strained medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
Backup cornerback Aaron Glenn also suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's loss at Atlanta, so the Saints are suddenly very thin at the position. Payton said they will audition some free agent cornerbacks and likely sign one in the next day or two. Second-year pro Usama Young and veteran backup Jason David are the most likely candidates to replace McKenzie in the starting lineup, but both have struggled this year.
Tight end Jeremy Shockey suffered a right ankle injury in Sunday's game and was experiencing soreness and swelling on Monday, according to Payton. But he's optimistic he'll be able to play this week at Kansas City.
Right offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb suffered a right calf strain against the Falcons. Payton said he was encouraged by Stinchcomb's progress Monday, but Stinchcomb was vague about his status, offering that it's "not too, too serious."
Tailback Aaron Stecker suffered a hamstring injury, but Payton said he might be able to return this week.
Payton is also optimistic that tailback Reggie Bush and center Jonathan Goodwin might be able to return from knee injuries this week. He said he'll know more about all the injuries when the Saints return to practice on Wednesday.

Too bad about McKenzie's injury.
Hope its not the end of his career but it will tough to come back from this one.

Same thing happened to Jerry rice, tore the ligamnet and came back and broke his kneecap, then came back the next season as probowler. granted he is a wr and not a cb

I have never seen so many injuries in mmy life!
Safe to say they are just not in a position to make any kind of run....I think they need to start thinking about regrouping for next year.
On another note, you might actually see Dante Hall in here just to get a warm body

I love McKenzie just like everybody else but both of his injuries were non-contact on FieldTurf, and neither involved an obvious "buckling" of the knee, etc.
Both times he just dove and hit his knee on the Fieldturf. Very odd that this happens hundreds of times per game and you don't really see injuries.
Wonder if he kind of has fragile legs or something?

I'd like to see him open up a chain of bakeries in the New Orleans metro area.
