Who gives a rats arse? Neither of them would beat out Kenny Vacarro or Jarius Byrd for a starting job. They're both ST players or benchwarmers at best on this team.

Sunseri is actual a great player and he fits the system of hitting hard so I fine with the pick

I really like Sunseri...not a big LSU fan so I don't care for comparing him to LSU players...I think character/fitting in the locker room is very important to the team...Sunseri is a very likable guy, a leader, and should replace Herring as a special teams ace

A lot of people are really underselling the Sunseri pick. And most of that is because hes a white kid player safety and went to Alabama. Im an LSU fan, but when it comes to the NFL I have no college allegiance. I just want the Saints to be as good as possible.

Hes a way better athlete than people realize. 5'11 210lbs and already running in the high 4.4s - low 4.5s range just 6 months after ACL surgery. Very instinctive and smart football player. Everyone knows about the stock he comes from. Hes been around high level football his entire life. He knows the game.

And, IMO the best part about him, is that he is versatile. Hes played LB, nickel, dime, FS, SS, blitzed, etc. Hes been on every special teams possible. Kickoffs, kickoff return, punt, punt return, FG team, FG block, and has even been the holder for FGs.

Wasnt a sexy pick by any means, but he will be a contributor. Which cant be said for every player taken in the 5th round or later. And Sunseri was taken at the back end of the 5th. He will be a special teams all star for us, and down the road he will eventually see the field as the 3rd S or in certain situations.

And, our worst rated unit last season was special teams. We were below average on everything except punting. People undervalue special teams way too much. If you are on all special team units, you will play around 20 plays per game. And those 20 plays are important. Sunseri can help us get better.

What it comes down is this: Do you trust Rob Ryan? I do.

Check out this article about Sunseri getting drafted by the Saints. Excited to be a Saint and looking forward to getting started. And hes more than willing to play wherever we put him. LINK

Still can't believe we picked Sunseri, dude is lame as frick. Loston has way more ceiling than this clown.

Think Craig Steltz type NFL player.

The Saints only have 4 safeties on the roster right now and one is Reggie Ball who is still a question mark. Last season 5 safeties played more than %10 of the downs and 4 of them played 38% or more. A safety who excels on special teams and can contribute sparingly on defense has a very good chance to stick on the roster.

More than 50% of the defensive snaps.

Someone was on the MSB yesterday saying that the Saints made a huge mistake drafting Vaccaro over Reid last year. He posted stats too, even used a "clearly they made a mistake". He defended it, several times. I shite you not.
