I remember some people saying Jalen Hurst was terrible passer and would never make a good quarterback, I'm ok with Rattler, but most new coaches like to bring in or get their own guy.
Within one season hurts had improved leaps and bounds as a passer. Fields still sucks 3-4 years in. The dude very likely doesn’t have it. If you wanted to bring him in for a league minimum kind of deal and ditch Haener fine. Reclamation projects are in these days. But I wouldn’t expect him to ever start with the way he throws the ball.

Rattler and draft pick, nothing out there suggest QB is a winning option.

This is the strategy with the least upside possible.

It probably makes more sense to stick
with Carr at this point and see what Moore does with him.

I'm not 100% in agreement with Fields being done. Yes, he has not shown much in his brief career.
It's the Geno's in Seattle, The Queer in Tampa Bay, Darnold in Minn., that makes me wonder if Fields could be an option.
The Steelers and Bear had staff much smarter than me on evaluations of talent. Plus, the draft board had him highly ranked by all NFL teams.
Maybe a 2 year deal, Carr in 2025 and maybe Fields could be a Geno Part 2

There were numerous instances in several Steelers games this year where he was legit just afraid to let routine short NFL passes go on time. Collinsworth pointed it out as did I believe aikman.
We know damn well the Steelers WANTED him to be that younger reclamation project that worked out but they ended up replacing him with old broken Russ. That’s pretty telling to me.
And yeah that staff is smarter than us for those two teams and now have BOTH released the guy.
He’s inaccurate, doesn’t throw on time, and just doesn’t show much whenever he’s on the field.
I just don’t think he has it.

No.
Draft OL, DL, TE/WR with your first 4 picks.
Use those new guys with Ratter and build around them in 2026 again.
You’ll have plenty of choices in 2026 draft for your QB of the future too. Arch, Allar, Nuss just to name a few
