Even if this is true. Lets say it is. Wilson/Fields combo offers much more UPSIDE from what we know so far. This isn't debatable. What you believe will happen going forward is an opinion. Fine yall think Carr will be better, thats totally fine. But from what we know so far the steelers made a very smart move getting away from pickett and gambling on two QBs who have alot of potential with little risk.

That the vast majority would have wanted Wilson over Carr for most of their careers. Last two it's fairly close. Edge to Carr fwiw

All the talk around the game has been "has Wilson hit the skids...is he done".
None of that around Carr. He's just the same old Carr.
As stats show and my eyes as well now I would take Carr.
Pitt just got two qbs. One with 11 wins in two years and one with 11 wins in three years. And that's smart?

Outside the last two years in the denver shite show Wilson was considered an elite, top 5, first ballot hall of fame qb. He threw for 40 touchdowns in 2020. Yes I believe he's most likely cooked. BUT Pittsburgh just got him on a 1yr $1.2 million deal. Thats stupid value for the money. His worst years (in denver) were still average and in line with our $38 million/year quarterback. AND they got justin fields. An uber talented 25 year old #1 overall draft pick for a 6th round pick. Fields hasn't had great success but he has had some and is still young and developing. Pittsburgh is one of the best orgs in the nfl.

Why all the old stats?
Everyone likes old Russ vs old Carr.

Would you take Carr for $38M/year or Wilson $1.2M/year?

You can't call me Cpt hindsight milky. I said from day one not to marry a washed mediocre handmedown

This is really not to keep harping on the past but can we at least give the steelers credit for making these great moves.

No. They picked up two qbs last 4 years of starts between with a combined 22 wins. Same org picked a qb in 1st round at 20 and dumped just two years later.
Not good.
Not smart.

They won two superbowls with roethlisberger. Tried rebuilding with the draft, took a chance on the hometown kid. Didn't work out but still a respectable move. Now taking a chance on two high ceiling guys for no money. On top of that they still make the playoffs almost every year in one of the toughest divisions and havent had a losing season since 2003. Imagine a saints fan looking down on the steelers organization. That basically sums up the Saints board in a nutshell.

Who questioned this

Besides you don't need Saints fans for this. Just go to any Pitt website the last two years. They are not as impressed as you.

Y/A 6.9 - 7.1
Passer Rating 98 - 97.7

Carr played two more games*
