How would this look?

Honestly any DT free agent would make me happy, because regardless of who it is, they will be an upgrade.

Vilma, Fujita, and possibly another free agent pick up, or even Rivers in the draft would be superb.

Not to mention DRC or someone else we could add to our secondary.

Vilma should play his middle linebacker. We finally get a pretty legit MLB and you want to draft someone else to take over that position? I just don't see the need. Yes I agree Rivers is too early to take at 10 overall, however he is the best linebacker in my opinion and can play outside. So why not trade down some?

Trading down some and drafting Rivers in the 1st round would hurt the Saints chances of drafting a star CB. The only trade for that scenario that I could see happen is a trade with the Cowboys but will Rivers be around at 23rd overall?

the cb depth in this years draft is HUGE.. plus look at the past drafts.. most impact players on defense early are linebackers.. and not really corners..

patrick willis last year.. aj hawk the year before.. i like first round linebackers..

look at the corner we almost got last yr that ended up in atlanta.. the guy from arkansas chris houston or something like that.. he didn't amount to anything first year..

AJ Hawk and Patrick Willis were picked almost exactly where they were projected and had way better write-ups than Rivers. 10th is a reach for Rivers and there is a possibility Conners may be available at pick #42 unless he has an amazing workout on his pro day. I see that as a value pick if he is around.

i agree. it's really a bad spot to be in first round.. but the signing of vilma still allows us to draft best available player regardless.. but trust me the cb depth is pretty deep in this class. maybe the one of the deepest ever..

to tell you the truth i wanted us to draft the cornerback from texas (aaron ross) that went to the giants last year first round.. and he turned out very nice winning a sb.

Ross was drafted 7 picks before the Saints had a chance to draft him. If he was available, he would have been the best player on the board and in a Saints uniform. Not Meachem.

we would have an excellent front 7 next year if we sign briggs and trade for stroud that would be awesome then we can draft best corner availible 1st round and even could pick up a guy like Drayton Florence or Randall Gay
