So did the owner of the team. Either get the frick over it or quit being a hypocritical dip shite
If it makes you feel better I think Benson is a count as well.

But all that does not in any way translate to a frick you joe horn. Heaven forbid if Drew couldn't agree on a contract extension with the Saints and has beef with payton over something... everyone will say frick you drew.
Again, it's not that he left, or that he had a problem with SP. He was an outspoken, selfish, attention hound. He said things in the media that were NOT beneficial for the chemistry of the team. He argued with his coach (who has since proven to be 100% right), he pouted about playing time/opportunities, he was NOT active in charities, benefits and community development and he was implicated in player issues (true or not, he shouldn't have even given people cause to accuse him).
I don't care that he went to the Falcons. Not even a little bit. It's a business, and you have to make money while you can because careers can end in a single play. Great, fine, good luck.
And I agree he was a VERY talented receiver who put up great numbers while he was here. However, we didn't win PO games, we didn't go to NFCCG's or SB's because of him and he is the one who chose to oppose SP's rules and culture instead of embracing it and possible being part of a championship run.
He choose to act like an arse, and he and the Saints parted ways. And because he acted like an arse and NOT like a professional, I dislike him personally and therefore don't give a turd about his "hurt feelings" or "regretful treatment" by the Saints.

Difference is Benson gets to make up for it by putting his money where his mouth is. He said something stupid but then turned around and devoted everything he had to the Saints. Joe Horn just decided it's been long enough for Joe Horn to be under a fricking rock. Time to get his name back out there. He's a piece of shite in my eyes and always will be.
Joe Horn made up for it too. He came back to the city, turned his head around, was glad the team could come back to help this city. He had one comment when he was being a yes man to his boss. GET OVER IT.

Was outspoken... I don't think it was always a selfish motivation. He wanted to play... big woopie, he was the man here for 5 years and he had a hard time dealing with his deteriorating skills. And he was active in the community, that's just bullshite.

You're over simplifying. It's not about ONE comment.

Not really. It was a tough time, they were trying to cater to san antonio, baton rouge, new orleans all at the same time. Lots of confusing signals out there especially coming from the front office. Do you not remember arnold filkow being fired from benson for being too pro-new orleans. I don't hear anyone chastising benson and bringing that up. It was a bad time, everyone learned their lesson, just move on from the deal and water under the bridge.

Other players in the league deal with this year in and year out with class and dignity. You are overlooking his behavior because he put up numbers.

Signing autographs for an hour after games, doing radio gigs and ribbon cuttings for car dealerships because your contract requires it and your agent tells you it's good for your career does not make you "active in the community".

Funny how that works... You're good so you put up with more shite.

Hey now, I'm always willing to jump in and hammer Benson for that crap!
Although, I now think a good bit of that was Arnie posturing himself for his current gig (which, I actually like him at, regardless).

That's fine. I don't think Arnie was so much posturing as just not being a yes man and injecting his thoughts to the situation. Good for Arnie to foresee the need to not abandon the city so quickly. But Joe Horn was just being a yes man to benson. Not you guys are chastising him for not being a yes man to Payton. Damn you do, Damn you don't!

Again, I don't think we know all the behind the scenes stories about joe and payton. But that's between them and they both did what they did and i'm a fan of both.

Hey, I've had no specific comment as to Joe. Keep me out of this.

I love how you just flat out refuse to believe Joe Horn is a selfish mother fricker. I've seen things and read things to back this up. I have NEVER seen or read one single thing about Sean Payton being selfish. He's a hard nosed coach right out of the mold of Parcels. T.O. couldn't handle him just like Horn couldn't handle Payton.

You are missing the point!!! I'm not anti-Joe because of JUST his Katrina comment. Jeez. It's because he acted like an arse the whole time he worked here.

He was way too much about himself. The TO types of the world do not get the loyalty that pure team players get.
Posted on 1/27/10 at 11:56 am to DEANintheYAY
joe horn was a cancer when he was on the team... he wouldnt show up to meetings and would show up hours late for treatment when he was hurt... anyone who says he was a great saint doesnt know half the story
