he's very good with words... listening to him in the days of Saints games being blacked out on the reg (read: end of Mora years/Ditka reign/most of Haslett)... you always had that visual of what was going on in your head... there was no question what was going on in the game which is most important
ask any LSU fan who for the last few years had to try to filter government code to understand the picture Hawthorne was trying to portray

You nailed it. Henderson paints a pretty picture. Hawthorne. Jesus. You couldn't tell if it was gymnastics or diving commentary.

He has been around a long time, and has done a very good job.

Very few people have the right mix of talent and knowledge to call a live sporting event and to make it compelling for the listener. I think Jim Henderson is one of those people. I would love to hear some tape of his first broadcasts to see how different he sounds compared to today.
