All of those games were really early in the season when we were in playoff contention. If you're going to complain about us not tanking shouldn't it be games late in the season? 5th game of the year is kind of early to give up right?

If we had been 3-7 or something, sure tank it. At 0-4, you can't tank a season. At 5-5, you can't tank a season. At 5-8, we were still mathematically alive in the playoffs. You can't tank the season at that point. By the time we were mathematically eliminated it was halfway thru the Dallas game.
I'm not really sure if this a serious or thread or not.

We were still alive for the playoffs after those 3 losses. The only game we weren't alive was our last game and clearly we gave up there

So how exactly should we have gone about tanking? Hand the ball to the defender on every offensive possession? I'm just wondering what you are suggesting

I don't give a frick what we were alive for. We had no shot this year, none, even in the playoffs, we would have had our asses waxed on nat'l television. (again). Only this time we could of said "we didn't have payton"

Would you have suggested we sit Brees? I'm curious at how we just lose games on purpose? Allow Tampa to score in that shut out? Avoid sacking Vick? Tell Hartley to miss the game winning field goal against cowboys?

Listen, this year's team had no problems being capable of losing games. I don't need to sit here and give a course on that.

Tanking will never happen in the nfl:
Players don't want to put bullshite on tape
Coaches don't want to put bullshite on tape
TV networks will never put you in a prime time spot if you tank during one of their slots
We were still in the playoffs hunt until the last two weeks and an extra playoff game means ALOT of money to the franchise.
Once again, franchises have to pick what is in the best interest of the franchise financially then competitively.
Sometimes this doesn't line up with pipe dreams of delusional fans
ETA: you think joe blow competing for special teams slot would listen to coaches, tank, then happens to get cut in the off season, and not start a huge stink about? cmon man, be reasonable
