If you were guaranteed to get Mahomes in Joe Burrow would you trade up to #1

Having seen the impact a 24 year old has made on one organization in 2 years, being the league MVP and winning the Super Bowl - would you do whatever it takes to get a player of that caliber knowing Burrow’s skill set already?
Don’t say the Saints couldn’t trade up for it. They might have to give up Kamara, Hill, or however many 1sts and future 1sts it would take. Nothing is impossible
Only 50% of first round picks pan out anyway, so trading 2-3 first round picks, you’d maybe get production on 1-2 out of the 3 anyway
Do you sell the farm knowing you could get a generational type talent?
We’ve been to 1 super bowl and have seen the ceiling of the formula the saints are running now. Few bad calls here or there but they haven’t lived up to expectations and just lost to Kurt Cousins in the Super Dome....
Maybe even resign Brees another year and let Burrow learn under him, like Mahomes did with Alex Smith
Yea this is another Burrow thread, downvote away — when you see a generational talent who already knows offensive concepts and schemes that the Saints run, it’s a no brainer

For a mahomes like talent? Of course. Different type of QBs though.

They are pretty similar I think, Burrow is more accurate while Mahomes has a stronger arm. Both extend plays with their feet really well. Both have what it takes upstairs, learning concepts and defenses. Andy Reid said Mahomes is the smartest QB he’s coached and just sees things that people normally don’t. Burrow is the same way, took him 2 drives against Clemson to figure out Venables and then the offense was cookin
Similar body build, Mahomes 6’ 3”, Burrow 6’ 4”
Both have great pocket awareness, can keep their eyes downfield
Burrow is gonna be a real good one

No, because if he’s a Mahomes type talent and everybody knows it, the ransom it would take to trade up from #24 to #1 would be unprecedented and would likely end up ruining Burrow’s career (although he would likely leaving as soon as his rookie contract was up) as well as devastating the team roster for at minimum the next decade.
There is not a QB on earth who can be successful without an offensive line and receivers, and that’s what the situation would be. Your question is retarded, just like the 100 similar threads before it.

Your cheeks are still sore from 46-41 I see... no such thing as a Saints fan that roots for Bama. Sickening if you live in Louisiana also.
You act like the saints would automatically trade every starter they have to move to #1. By your logic we must get rid of Ram, Mike T, Kamara, Lattimore, Rankins, Davis, and Cook
I guarantee you saints could trade their 1st, trade Kamara for a 1st from let’s say the dolphins, and literally give 2-3 more firsts to the bengals for the next few years.

Your thread is retarded OP. Deal with it.

Actually your fandom is making a huge assumption. It’s more likely that a #1 overall QB doesn’t go to or win a super bowl, much less become Patrick Mahomes.
QBs who went #1 overall since 1990: David Carr, Sam Bradford, Eli Manning, Jamarcus Russell, Peyton Manning, Tim Couch, Alex Smith, Jared Goff, Cam Newton, Jameis Winston, Matthew Stafford, Carson Palmer, Drew Bledsoe, Andrew Luck, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield.
Compared to; Tom Brady #199, Drew Brees #32, Aaron Rodgers #24, Ben Roethlisberger #11, Brett Favre #33, Patrick Mahomes #10, Russell Wilson #75, Kurt Warner (undrafted) and Carson Wentz #2

Sorry that I don’t want to ruin the franchise to make the biggest trade up in NFL history to support your homer pick
And what if he doesn’t work out? Maybe he becomes the next Andrew Luck. Then what? We would have no QB, no weapons, a depleted line and no draft picks for a decade?! Absolutely asinine

That’s because of the obvious train wrecks that pick number 1. Burrow won’t win a super bowl for the bengals, they are a terrible franchise and outside of Joe Mixon and Tyler Boyd they don’t have many weapons.
Mahomes and all the QB’s you mentioned were lucky to flourish with a competing organization with surrounding talent
Saints have said talent and wouldn’t have to rebuild like the bengals.
Mahomes on the bengals wins 8-9 games, same with Burrow

If it doesn’t work out then it doesn’t work out. We’d build around Burrow if needed
Same way when brees came to nola after they said he’d never play football again, it worked out
The franchise is in a rut. Whether they win 10-12 games or win 4-6 games, not much different, they aren’t winning Super Bowls now and the recipe they are trying has failed 3 straight years miserably... most recently to Kurt Cousins in the Dome
What if it did work out and it was all worth it? If it didn’t, it’s not like we are on the doorstep of the Super Bowl.
Ravens, 49ers, packers, chiefs, Seahawks, Dallas, Philly - all primed better for the future

No one compared burrow to mahommes 2 years ago now he has 1 good college season and he's as good as an NFL MVP and super bowl winner. Got it
Posted on 2/3/20 at 7:42 am to tigerintexas777
I think he'll be better than Mahomes.
No, I'm not kidding.

Yea and no one outside of Texas tech and KC knew how good Mahomes was gonna be either... Mahomes for what it’s worth was so good in college and lit LSU up in the Texas bowl, even though they got stomped
Burrow didn’t just have 1 “good” season, he had a great season - literally the best for any QB in the history of college football
Why he didn’t have it the year before was because of the anemic offense LSU was running
QB’s not named Trevor Lawrence, typically only have 1 maybe 2 good years in college

You do whatever it takes.
People forget KC was in the same space as us 3 years ago:
Aging QB, perennial regular season wins, early playoff exits.
In three years time they now have won a SB and I can make an argument they can win the next 2.
