3 of the top 11 picks from just 5 years ago are already out of the league

Percy Harvin was the 22nd pick. Michael Oher was number 23, and has started at LT ever since. Vontae Davis was 25. he was in the Pro Bowl last year. Clay Matthews was number 26. Eric Wood was 28, and has been the Bills starting center since. Hakeen Nicks was 29.

What if they end up being busts and our pick is better?

We'll probably accidentally draft the best player in the 1st round now. We would have screwed up a top 10 pick somehow.

No one knows, so what's the point of everyone bitching? There are almost no guarantees no matter how early you pick.

Because the earlier you pick, there is a larger pool of potential talent to choose from.

Are you really and truly this fricking dumb?

There is still no guarantee that greater pool will pan out any better. Are you too fricking dumb to understand that?

When's the last time New England had a top 10 draft pick? I wonder how that is working out for them...

Picking early also has greatly helped the jags.

Given a pool of 100 gorgeous women that you can choose from, but you have no idea how they frick, you always want to be the guy picking in front of you, because you have more options to choose from to make the best decision for yourself. You're fricking lying if you don't agree, and you should stop posting today.

I never said I don't agree with that. Nice strawman though.

It's the exact same logic. It's an analogy, not a logical fallacy, you dolt.

Yeah but they always seem to be at that position where some team wants to trade up and they get like 8 extra 2nd-5th round picks.

The Saints are one of those teams. We needed Mark Ingram SO bad.

I still never said anything like that. You should learn to read before insulting people.

Just saw another awesome part of the Saints winning, with Atlanta losing today, they will pick right in front of us too!

You "super fans" are right, what was I thinking? Who cares that Atl swept the Saints, we beat a 2 win TB team today so the Falcons get to pick 7 or 8 and we get to pick 13 or 14

Nah "super fan" I just thought the Saints picking in the top 8 was better for the franchise long term. Silly me.

But that's my point.. It's not where you draft (I understand that top talent goes early) but what you do with your draft picks.. New England is very good at finding those role player/team first guys in the draft. They also have a culture that is in place for veterans that come over in free agency must either accept or move on (see moss and revis)

Get over it. They are professional football players playing for their jobs and futures.
