For what? A top overall draft choice? The saints have about as much chance of being in the mix for anything of relevance as drew has of winning an arm wrestling tournament.

Take 2 of my wins and make them losses. We finish 10-7 and win the division. Book it.

Brother it would take this group 3 seasons to hit 10 wins.

Saw some dude on YouTube last night talk about 6 wins in the first half of the season. Don’t see it. See 4-4 at ceiling.

No depth at WR
No depth at RB
Nothing at TE
Bad OL
Derek Carr

The offense is a ticking time bomb. Special teams is unreliable.

Can the defense get to the passer?

No home run hitter either. We possess absolutely none of the desirable traits of a modern nfl offense.

You can't be optimistic on this board.

Bunch of spoiled LSU fans who just became Saints fans after 2010

You have to have some attributes to point to to be considered optimistic. Tell me, what fundamental traits does this offense possess, in an offensive league might I add, that would lead you to believe that we will have any kind of consistent success this season? When you think things will go well with no real evidence to point to to justify that optimism, you're not optimistic, you're delusional.

I see 4-4 being a little realistic, but think 5-3 or 6-3 (depending on where you breakdown half) is the absolute ceiling. I just cannot see them beating @Dal, Phil, or KC; shite happens every week in the NFL, and that's exactly what it will take.

I think the 2 Panthers games (where do you determine half in a 17-game season 8 or 9 games) Falcons & Denver should be wins. Again, it's DA & the Saints, shite happens so no guarantees other than these will be closer than they should be.

Bucs & @Chargers are coin flips to me. I think the results of these games has more to do with which Baker shows up this season & what does Harbaugh do to this team.

You have a QB & offense that performed better when using motions & play action that is moving from an OC that refused to use motions & play actions to an OC that came from an offense that used them on damn near every play. There is a legitimate attribute that should call for some optimism there. Now you still need an oline that can execute the blocking schemes, which should be easier in this offense than in PC's, and you still need your QB to be able to make the throws (especially inside the 10).

If the optimism is based on these major changes and being able to challenge for the South, I think it's justifiable. If anyone is thinking this team is going to make a run in the playoffs, which I have yet to see a single poster mention this, then there needs to be a call to have their head examined

It’s gonna be hard for the skill guys to do much with an o line this bad no matter what the scheme is. I agree we needed to change offensive philosophy but I just don’t have much confidence this group of players can execute it.

And that is a legitimate concern and reason to be concerned, I was just pointing out why some people may be optimistic.

My concern has more to do with Carr's historic struggles at the beginning of the season when having to deal with a new offensive philosophy. He was starting to put some things together towards the end of last season (against bad defenses), and now he needs to learn an entirely new offense again. (Pete's at least had "some" similarities to Gruden's). How long will it take him to really settle in with Kubiak's scheme. How long will it take the oline to really settle in? Sure the blocking schemes are supposed to be better, but timing and being able to work together is what makes an offensive line. We now have 3 new pieces, and 1 of them isn't practicing (or recently started and I missed it)

Brees had one OC (CSP) for 15 years.
Carr has had 6 OCs in 11 years.

5-4 as they will have a pause in season due to the “peaceful” protests by the left after the presidential election. Atlanta game won’t happen.

We can now admit that Payton was still the one calling the shots when he was suspended?
