I still can't rap my mind around the idea that Williams could not adjust

His angle or speed approaching the receiver as the ball came in and just completely avoided any contact at all.
It took more effort and agility to avoid the tackle than to make it.

I mean I just keep scratching my head. I feel bad for him but I just can't believe what I'm seeing.

One of the strangest plays and endings I've ever seen.
I watched his post game interview but could not make much sense of it except for him saying it was what you saw. Stunned is an understatement.

My only explanation is that right before he inexplicably closed his eyes he thought the ball would be on target towards the sideline. He misjudged the play. You can tell when he briefly pulls up and then continues with poor form momentum.

He's a rookie who took a bad angle on a tackle. I'd guess he couldn't think too clearly on account of being exhausted from being on the field for 2/3 of the game with no breaks for the first 30 minutes, overcoming stalled offensive drives with multiple turnovers, and then getting the interception to put us back in the game.

How much can you ask of one rookie safety on the road in the post season?

This young badass defense with all new coaches really came together down the stretch and played great this season.

If a loss in the divisional round of the playoffs is their first season floor, we might be witnessing the beginning of something really special.

We get and stay healthy next year and pick up and athletic linebacker or DE to compliment Jordan and we'll have one hell of a defense going forward.

On offense we were plagued by oline issues. But we have 2 incredible running backs, a future hall of fame all time elite QB, and a really solid rookie WR.

Our fanbase is so fricking spoiled its ridiculous.

There are plenty of legit criticisms, but get off of Williams about that play.

Don't get your panties in a wad. It's a legitimate question and your response is bullshite particularly if you are using the exhaustion excuse. You know better.

I think he absolutely panicked when he saw a wide open receiver 25 yards downfield uncovered here(which he should have). So he hauled arse to make a play on the ball as a normal reaction. At the last second, he realized in this situation he only needed a solid tackle and not a play on the ball, so he tried to adjust last second and he was off balance

Once he broke for the ball, he should have just stayed with it

Your takes today are glorious. You think he panicked?

They were in a zone, he knew there was a possibility of someone running open. He didn’t panic and if he did this wasn’t a reason.

At the last second he realized he go there too early. He thought the ball would be closer to the sideline. He couldn’t adjust due to momentum and poor tackle form.

Absolutely out of character for him. He probably did panic and overplayed it. Just so surreal.

If he jumps up, instead of putting his head down, he gets the ball at the same time as diggs

You have honestly been an idiot in here today

Agree. I think he wanted to make a play on the ball but his angled was ruined by a high throw. Then when he decided to tackle he thought he might have been too early so he pulled off. Or he possibly didn’t think Diggs would jump quite that high

You asked "what happens if they release the right ends" against man under cover 3

Well, they are simply covered by one of the 5 players assigned to them.....

Poor tackle form

Look at the 1 min. mark , he purposely dips down to avoid the receiver. No question .

Correct because he misjudged the pass and got their too early. Likely afraid of getting a penalty, no excuse though.

Lol my first post says that. You say he panicked at the thought of someone being open

He panicked at the thought of a player running wide open to the fricking sideline in field goal range, yes

A good throw and Williams isn't even in this play, as diggs glides OOB like willie Snead did

When diggs broke wide open like that, Williams originally needed to make a play on the ball for us to secure a win.....

Agree to disagree but you can take it as fact if it helps you sleep. Nothing shows he panicked.

I mean replays show you are wrong. It’s exactly where Marchs was heading

Exactly. He was heading where the throw was supposed to be....But a good throw means diggs fronts Williams and he won't have a play but to go through him

Once he saw it was a bad throw, he decided to try and make a tackle instead of a play on the ball, which causes him to actually try and avoid diggs because he realizes he is actually even with diggs already

He should have just continued to play the ball

Which is what he expected, hence him closing his eyes. Look, we are on the same page I just disagree that he panicked.
