I disagree simply because the patriots got caught cheating and received much, much less punishment.

They didn't try to hide its existence and cover it up.

This is also the 2nd major incident of Payton lying to Mr. Benson. Lied straight to the man's face about the pills and then this. I'm concerned Payton may never return to the sidelines in NOLA.

I wish i had time to look stuff up today. Someone go find that link from the interview a couple weeks ago where Benson came out fully in support of Payton and Loomis in this whole scenario.

Explain to me why the punishment should be equal.

It's not about whether the punishment is fair or not. I agree it's excessive.

The problem I have is that a lot of Saints fans are deflecting or using other situations to compare to this one. The bottom line is this: You broke the rules, the NFL told you to stop, and your head coach knowingly and willingly ignored that directive and lied to keep the program going. In that situation, I have absolutely no sympathy for you and you are at the mercy of the league. You deserve whatever punishment you get.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Choctaw.

Whining about Nick Fairley was so "in" until the Saints were busted for the bountygate. Now its the pussification of America.

You agree it's excessive. But we deserve punishment.

Most of the people here have admitted that we deserve some sort of punishment, but it's excessive.

Why are we arguing, Rex?

So they sent an email to the NFL before said illegal filming commenced? At least ESPN knew beforehand, right? Awesome.

I'm not really arguing with anyone. I'm just personally a little disgusted by the Saints fans both here and on facebook that are demonizing Goodell but not Sean Payton. He is the one responsible for the suspension and he put himself and his franchise in that situation with his behavior.

Did you not comprehend my first post? I agree with all of the punishments except for Payton's suspension which you agree is excessive. I win 1-0.
