I get that the players want a longer camp / acclimation period.

But, the first couple of regular season games each year have been trash, and it's because the players aren't game-ready, since pre-season games are a joke.

Why not:

1) Play 2 pre-season games, on Week 4 of the previous pre-season schedule, and Week 1 of the previous regular season schedule.

2) Move Week 1 games to the end of the season.

3) Move playoffs back one week.

4) Eliminate week between champ games and Super Bowl.

I don't understand how they are still trying to work this out. These decisions should have been long completed.

They want to play as few games as possible and get paid in full. Not hard to see IMO.

Hmm. I thought most of them wanted to compete, especially the elite guys.

If that’s the case they should want more preseason games since most of them don’t play much in preseason games anyway

They don’t get paid extra for preseason games. If they play 4, 2, or 0 their pay is still the same. Pretty simple

Because preseason games are a waste of time for 90% of the guys who will make the team and that's 100% of the players who you'll hear from. Alize Mack wants preseason games, Jared Cook does not.

Wrong. Most NFL players nowadays haven't actually wanted to show up to a game for the sake of competition since Sophomore year of college ball.

I don’t think people understand just how grueling a season of football is on an athlete. Just from a college schedule my body was beat to shite half way through the season. I couldn’t imagine playing 16 games plus preseason and playoffs. Of course they want to eliminate meaningless games.

I dont know why they ever want to play preseason games. There is a chance of injury and the games don't mean anything. Seems really dumb to have them at all, even when we don't have a pandemic to worry about.

Except that they are rusty AF for the first few games.

The 15-20 plays the starters get in 2 preseason games isn't gonna change that.

Shut up, this absolutely benefits us! No other team in the NFL has the cohesiveness, specifically offensively that we have!

Bucs and Panthers - New qb’s with new receivers and new systems.

Failcons - New running back.

The less preseason and/or camp, the better for us.

*fewer

But come on - 4 has always been too many. 2 makes more sense: one for the starters and one for the bubble guys.

Football is an injury riddled profession. They don't get paid for exhibition games that could get them injured, which could result in zero pay once the season ends. That means they play 2 or 3 exhibition games a year in which any play could cost them millions of $$$$$$$ or even tens of millions of $$$$$$$.

I would like to do away with Mondays and Tuesdays while maintaining my current annual salary.

See how this works? They're only interested in the competition, after they get paid.
