Build is going to be a few years

It really does not have to be. We will be relatively good cap space in 26 compared to previous seasons.

I count 9 positions that HAVE TO UPGRADE.
3 biggest being QB, WR1, TE1. QB may already be on the roster.
2 starters hopefully from draft.
6 have some potential challengers on roster currently, but can add those with free agents and/or other draft picks.

QB-Shough should be starting now to see what we have in him
RB-same. Kamara is virtually untradeable due to contract & net return. Miller & Neal are good spell backs
TE1-Need to upgrade. Nobody on current roster should be in contention for TE1 next season
WR1-Need to upgrade. Trade Olave for whatever you can get so we don't pay him the $15M 5th yr option we picked up. WR-2 Shaheed, WR-3 Vele, then Tipton, Polk and others battling for the remaining spots
LT-Banks is a good start, hope he solidifies himself
LG-Penning hopefully comes back plays at least average, then maybe resign him to a 1yr deal on a decent price.
C-McCoy is good
RG-Upgrade, Ruiz needs to be cut.
RT-Fuaga is good. He is the man when not injured

DE-Young is good, but need another challenger
DE-Granderson is good, but need another challenger
DT-Bresee is good, but need a younger run stuffer. Hopefully Broughton can bounce back from injury next season.
DT-Shepherd is not good, need to upgrade. Hopefully Boyd can step up during the season to see what he's got.
NT-Godchaux is good but getting older
LB-Davis needs to upgrade, he's showing his age
LB-Werner needs to upgrade, need a playmaker. Maybe Stutsman can be that guy
CB1-Upgrade. McKinstry is a good #2 & Taylor slot. Maybe Riley can get some PT this season to see wht he's got
S-Reid good, continue to see what Sanker has
P-Kroger is good
K-Upgrade from Grupe.

Use top 2 pick in 2026 to trade down to 5-6 and gain an extra 2nd in 2026 and an extra first in 2027.

Use most of 2026 draft on defense and a Guard in the third.

Draft QB and WR with two first round picks in 2027, maybe even a TE or RB in the second round then see what happens.

False

I doubt we have our QB that turns the ship around on the roster.

We need a QB, WR1, CB1, CB2, TE, Pass Rusher, RG, LG, and DT/NT to turn this team around. Even if we hit on all our picks, that’s two to three years of picks. Not to mention that Davis, McCoy, Jordan and Kamara will need to be replaced in that time period as well.

Fire Loomis, Ireland, and the entire scouting department

The last great draft class we had was EIGHT YEARS AGO

I mean I agree with the first 3 and RG but I’m willing to wait and see what Penning looks like. They said he was doing better at Guard. Not so sure about DT. We had kind of a logjam there and Broughton looked good before he got hurt. I also think Kool Aid will be a really good number 2 CB for us and Alotane will be in in the slot but I think they’re both being asked to do things they weren’t originally meant to do. Kool Aid was supposed to be a good slot or good outside 2. Not be the lead guy.

But QB, WR1 and Edge are undeniable.

Get it out of cap hell, get younger and cheaper on both sides of the ball, find a QB to build around and then sell the team and fire Loomis on camera for posterity so Saints fans can always look back on that moment and smile.

Yeah it really does. Unless you hit on an absolute unicorn at QB.

This team lacks in some many areas that a successful modern nfl team has. Line depth, pass rush, explosive weapons, physicality in the back of the defense.

It’s going to be 2-3 years and that’s fine.
