If Brees and Saints can't agree, then Saints will need more than Grayson. If a QB falls to them, and they are not close to a deal with Brees, then they will have to draft one. No way should they move up unless they feel there will be no deal with Brees.

You do not pass on either at 12. That's just stupid.

No way either of the top 2 QB's will still be on the board at 12. But if Lynch is there do you take him?

No, he said we were going to move up for Mariota.

In fact, I don't believe they would pass on him there as their quarterback of the future, and some execs maintain the Saints are also in the market to move up for a QB under the right circumstances."

So they'd move up for either Wentz or Lynch? Goff is going 1. Wentz isn't making it past Philly at 8. No way in hell we trade up just to get Lynch. Plus...oh yeah, we're paying our QB 30 mil a year right now before the extension.

I don't see any way one of the guys blows us away that much. We go QB, and we're 7-9 or less. We need to much help.

Great idea, saints need to protect themselves. Next year, Brees or Armstead who do you tag? Brees will not take a discount. He wants big money until he is 42. Love Brees, Saints has start thinking about this.

I wonder if the Saints have someone on their payroll just to troll him. He has this type of breaking news every year.

I would be happy. Never too early to start preparing for the future. They have to have someone in place when Drew retire.

I always figured that there was no way Brees doesn't re-sign with us by next offseason, but I feel like taking a QB in the 1st could hurt those chances.

1. I could see the Saints trying to use that as leverage against him in contract negotiations, 2. I'm sure he doesn't want a 1st round rookie breathing down his neck as his career comes to an end, 3. When we had a chance to give him immediate help during his final run, we took his replacement instead.

It's a work. We want to trade down for the first time in ever. So we put on the face that we want to take a QB like Lynch or Wentz if they fall to us so someone like the Broncos, the Chiefs, or whomever says "Oh crap, the Saints might take our guy here. Let's go get him."

And we move down a dozen spots. Get one or two extra 2nd day picks and can take the DL we want. Then take Jaylon Smith on day 2 and a guard and then take over the world.

Exactly, if they can get their guy at 12 you have to take him if you're confident he can be the future of the franchise. We would have 60 mil to play with and a redshirt year for our franchise qb to be groomed. We would be able to put a lot of talent around him and be set for the future. We aren't making a super bowl run next year unless our defense takes huge strides, along with new faces on the offensive side of the ball along the line, at TE, and probably at Wr.

Now, if Goff/Wentz fell to us at 12, it'd be hard to pass. Especially since I like both prospects and both have much higher ceilings than Grayson does. HOWEVER, under NO circumstances do I want to trade up for a QB. shite, I don't want to trade up at all.

I think this is the right answer. It's looking more and more like Brees' asking price is too high. If he thinks he can get a 3 year deal with a gigantic guarantee from another team, the Saints may be willing to call his bluff.
