he's still a mismatch most of the time playing in the slot. I don't know how much he lines up there but it seems like he does often.

56% of his routes were from the slot.

I'm a huge Colston fan as well. 1 of the best 7th round picks ever.

If healthy, I'll give him 3-4 solid seasons left. Yes, he is getting older. But speed has never been his game. His game is size and a great chemistry with Brees (68% completion last year, top 5 in nfl).

And I actually think he's in for 1 more big season. Especially if Cooks can become the type of player we all hope he will. Graham and Cooks will get the double teams / CB1. Which leaves Colston man to man with a CB2. And not that many teams have a CB2 that can match up with Colston.

No, Colston is not HOF worthy right now.

But I will say that Colston has far better numbers than Carter did through his first 8 seasons.

Carter - 449 Rec, 5833 yards, and 49 TDs.
Colston - 607 Rec, 8337 yards, and 63 TDs.

Carter didn't really start his HOF campaign until his 8th season when he was 29 years old. Between 30-35 years old Carter had 571 Rec, 8385 yards, and 74 TDs.

Carter didn't go to his first pro-bowl till his 7th season and Colston has had 4 season better than what Carter put up in that year.

One reason Carter was able to do so well in his mid 30s was because a guy by the name of Randy Moss joined him and took a lot of pressure away.

If Colston can continue to average his 75 Rec, 1042 yards, and 8 TDs until he is 35 then it would put him in the top 10 all time in receptions, top 12 in yards, and top 7 in TDs.

Colston seems to take more pounding hits than other Saints' receivers. That has to take its toll over the years. I believe he can be productive as long as Brees is productive at the QB position.

Good for the next three years.

he could go another 5 years if he wanted if he stays injury free

Which is impossible when...

He was never a speed guy so that's not a factor. His game is smarts, body positioning, toughness in the middle and good hands.

He's always taking hard hits. I give him props, he's very tough. Didn't he only miss 2 games with a broken collarbone in 2011? That's insane.

Regardless of his toughness, his injuries will catch up with him - and he'll eventually have to make that tough decision that every player has to make, how much of your future well-being are you willing to sacrifice for one more year, one more shot?

The 2 year assessment is fair IMO, even 1 year. Last year he was running hurt, I hope he can turn it around and show even better production.

He broke his collarbone during the potential game winning drive vs. Green Bay on a 23 yard diving reception. Still got up and played through the pain because he knew it was do or die and no more timeouts.

Reports said he would be out at minimum 4 weeks, but came back after 2.

One of the many reasons why he's my favorite Saints player (excluding Brees)
