I thought we were talking about this year, what choice does he have this yr? When you fall behind because of a poor D, and your running game isn't producing anyway...why keep going with it when you have the weapons we have in the passing game.
Also, Payton is like a kid in a candy store?? WTF? We have the best Offense in the NFL. When will you guys see that???

I'm talking about his aversion to the running game in general. It's not a recent phenomena.

Again, it's not just this season.

Do you get a trophy or award or something for that? Defense wins championships. I thought everyone knew that?

I agree here. I don't believe PT is a full time RB in this league. He is what he is....a backup.

But this team has to get better on both lines before anything will change. Against physical teams, they get pushed around waaayyyy too much. I'd start with the O-line and then get a OLB and safety to replace Kevin K. Everyone can rag the CB's but I believe the lack of a pash rush plus bad safety play has made the CB's look worse than they really are. I believe the play of M. Mckenzie and Gay was pretty solid, before Mckenzie got hurt.

Theis team has got to get tougher on the lines or it will always be the same result against Chicago, Carolina, the Vikings....a loss.

I agree. A great offense creates a mediocre defense. I.E. the Pats

Dude I agree, our D sucks. But I was just making the point that the problem is not our Offensive play calling.

Defense!!!! How about drafting a Good Safety and dont waste a 1st round pick on RB..RBs are a dime a dozen..And If not defense take a LT because good offensive lines create good running games...Example: Giants- Brandon Jacobs is a good back but Ward and Bradshaw are avg backs who look good because of the Giants great offensive line

Bottom Line in the draft take the best available player at- LT, Safety, or LB

Agree.

The Safety spot has to be fixed first IMO, then the LT/RT spots. My suggestion, and feel free to pass it on.
1.) Sign Vilma now,
2.) Sign Jordan Gross (LT from Carolina) in FA,
3.) Move J. Brown back to RT,
4.) Cut Shanle,
5.) Get rid of Gary Gibbs,
6.) Draft Taylor Mays, William Moore or Aaron Curry,
7.) Try to steal a RB like Shonn Greene from Iowa, Rashad Jennings from Liberty, Tyrell Sutton from Northwestern, Kory Sheets of Purdue, Javarris Williams of Tenn State or Donald Brown out of UCON,
8.) Prepare J. Dunbar to play, and
9.) Find a WR to complement Colston, whether it's getting Meachem up to snuff or signing T.J. Houshmenzada (sp?).

I think bush just isnt a good rb and he just so happens to get the majority of the carries. pt and stecker have or had no problem running behind the line, deuce ran well behind the majority of these guys before blowing out his knee again.

deuce was doing nothing last year before blowing out his knee and thomas and stecker haven't done much this year. They showed pics of the run blocking after the 1st couple of games and there is NO way those carries were bushs fault

Throwing the ball 50 times a game is a problem, especially when your franchise player has a rebuilt throwing shoulder. The passing game leads to turnovers and shortens our time of possesion which both handicap the defense and allow opposing teams to exploit their weaknesses more often. Our offensive playcalling is a problem. A one sided offense is a problem.

deuce wasnt doing that bad, 3.8, 4.9, then the game where he hurt his knee he had 1.3 ypc, so he was average, then great, then hurt.

bush in the same games 3.2, 2.7, 2.1 ypc.

yet you didnt talk about when bush went down and what stecker and thomas accomplished.

the blocking has been subpar at times, I think alot of that is playcalling and no committment to the run. of course sometimes it just doesnt go your way. kinda like us and minnesota, who in the world thought we could hold peterson to 1.5 ypc?

if you think defense dont key on reggie harder than deuce pierre or stecker... you need to turn in your fan card. if reggie gets a decent hole he's gone for 8+ yards.

were defenses keying on deuce when he was running for 1600 yards? how about peterson last year? with zero passing game at that. how about LT? every starting rb in the league is keyed on bro.

Being we likely won't have a first round pick this yera it'll be hard to draft one in the first round. We may not have any picks until round 3. Hopefully someone falls.

im pretty sure it was a team effort i dont see how any team could win a game with out an offesive effort, it takes a team to win a game not just a defense or offense
