Dick Nolan, Mike's father, was the first New Orleans Saints Head coach to produce a 500 season.

Additionally, he was head coach for the New Orleans Saints from 1978–80 going 15–29. He was the first Saints head coach to win six, seven, and eight games in a single season, going 7–9 in 1978 and 8–8 in 1979.[

Mike does have some ties to the Saints

Thanks for the winning years and the Superbowl season. I for one will always defend you. Haters gonna hate. You da man Gregg. Good luck getting stomped by the most prolific offense in history if you face Payton and his boys in the future.

We don't have the LB talent for a 4-3 either but it's arguable that Dunbar and Vilma are our better LB's and make for a better combo both on the inside. Guys like Wilson and Galette could excel on the outside.

Tez Wilson will stick outside. The guy opposite him would be in question..maybe Gallette while they rebuild. Unless he blows up.

I think the 3-4 D-line would work itself out. They'd have to bring back Aubrayo Franklin as a stop gap though. Will Smith and Cam Jordan work really well at 3-4 end.

Middle linebacker would be an issue though..

That's the exact reason why Vilma wanted out of New York because of his inability to adapt to the 3-4. He's to small for the ILB position. Dunbar has the size and lateral speed to play ILB 3-4 but not the smarts to call the plays and make adjustments on the field. I f u want a 3-4 system, be prepared for a lot of changes.

Accommodating Vilma's tail end of his career is not of any type of priority to me what so ever. He's under contract, he'll play the position.

MW would be a great drop OLB, and JG would be a project rush LB alot like the guy @houston. But ILB would have to be addressed in the draft or free agency

Serious question, would moving Vilma squeeze a few more years out of him?

I guess you got a point.

Hopefully we can hit another small school gem or two this year in the later rounds or as udfa's.

Good! Maybe he'll learn how to stop scrubs like Alex Smith and Marshawn Lynch.
