I was thinking the same thing, but maybe they're trying to go with the Patriots Gronk-Hernandez plan.
The problem here tho is the neither Cook or Graham have committed murder. So that kind of rules this theory out.

Actually best we could do in a non exclusive franchise is their 13 this year and first next year, there is no way in hell they'd say frick the franchise rules, we'll go ahead and give the saints the number 2 pick and next years first instead of the 13 and next year's first. Looks like you're he one wearing the red nose and hosting the grand prize game.
You do realize if we trade him we can get whatever they agree to, right?

So I will say again...
If they work out a deal with him they by nfl rule give up 13 in this year's draft and 1st next year.
They can do this automatically...
Why would they engage in trade talks, negotiate, etc to give a HIGHER pick this year?

To get Loomis to agree to refrain from matching their offer sheet, which otherwise he might.

How about we entertain trade talk ideas with say a detroit...a team in need of another passing target to give calvin breathing room...imagine those 2 with reggie...in theory this sounds like a more plausible idea than a team already invested in the position with young talent as potential partners.

I'm 95% sure if someone bites on the 2 first rounders they will go help jimmy pack. Especially if one is the 13th overall this year. There is no shot that we will be in a position to negotiate MORE than that, especially up to 2nd overall pick. If you do get the number 2 pick, there is 0 chance you get another 1st rounder next year. Only an elite qb would warrant that kind of value.

Detroit has absolutely no way to sign him

This. St. Louis can offer whichever firsts they chose so long as both parties agree to the deal. Doesnt matter if that 2nd overall was aquired by trade or not. Even though this whole discussion is a completely fabricated rumor.

Fuuuuck that. Not sure how Seattle could afford him anyway with all the guys they're about to have to re-sign.

No trade for two #1's then?

Posted on 3/3/14 at 8:35 am to goatmilker
if its one of those teams i want chancellor or an additional 3 thrown in....2 borderline 2nd round picks does not equal jimmy
i should clarify
seattle-chancellor
green bay 3rd

Well.I knew this would sort of open it up to the highest bidder and you can't really choose except for matching what they offer. But I mean those are two teams basically standing directly between us and the NFC Championship. I'd hate to have to deal him to them, especially for Seattle's measly 32nd overall pick.

I doubt Seattle could do it. Greenbays offense would be sick with Graham, but their defense is still a huge mess.

i fear no team. if seattle wants him they can have him. between russell, sherman, chancellor, irvin and others they would implode. all for another passing option and they are only a moderate passing team.
no first rounder, give me chancellor and your next two picks
no first rounder, give me chancellor and your next two picks

If the Rams give up the second overall it's because that's all they're going to give up. If they give up the 13th we'll likely get a third rounder also.
quote:That's only true in a trade. If they sign him we don't get the second overall.
This. St. Louis can offer whichever firsts they chose so long as both parties agree to the deal. Doesnt matter if that 2nd overall was aquired by trade or not
Anyway all of this is moot because he will be with the Saints unless he stays locked at $12m per.

I would take Cook and the 13th overall. He's not as good as graham but still very talented and drew would make him look elite. And even tho he is somewhat pricey he's much cheaper than JG. Then we could load up in this mega talented draft and take a top CB/S/T/WR whoever and still have quality TE depth and more money

JG is not worth a 2nd & 13th pick
Posted on 3/3/14 at 8:48 pm to 24chevrolet48
There is only four teams would do it and it would be rams, browns, falcons, or patriots. Green Bay is also one but I really think if I was in rebuild mode like the rams and browns I would bite all day on graham especially the fact I have two first rounders this year and I can give one of those picks to get a monster in graham and trade the other pick to move back and most likely get a first for next year . So they really would not be hurting much plus they end up getting what they need most an offense. Graham is the only te that lines up at receiver and dominate and if add him with a pretty good te like cook or Cameron you pretty much got your offense right there. You don't need beast receivers you just need decent ones. Patriots prove that.

"In place: The Rams spent big money last offseason to bring tight end Jared Cook to St. Louis from Tennessee. Although technically listed as a tight end, Cook was the de facto replacement for Danny Amendola as a super sized slot receiver.
Lance Kendricks and Cory Harkey remain under the team's control for 2014 and join Cook as one of the groups where the Rams seem most settled heading into the offseason."
Just throwing this here since people are foolish enough to think the Rams would be a team that Graham will go to.
Also they only have $7.3m in cap space(5th least in the league) with holes at LB and backup(if not starting) QB, amongst others.
That makes the original message look even sillier.
Edit:
Teams that really might go bonkers and do it are the Raiders and the Jags. Both could use star power and are 1 and 2 in cap space. And both are very poorly run.
I'd put the Jets, Bills, and Vikings as the next 3 with a lot of cap space and a need, but they aren't going to overpay(at least not to the extent the Raiders or Jags would).
Falcons only if they want to stick it to us, but they have bigger holes and couldn't go crazy with it.
