the Saints are projected to receive at least three compensatory draft picks in 2024 for losing high-profile free agents in 2023: defensive tackle David Onyemata (fourth round) and defensive end Marcus Davenport (fourth round), as well as linebacker Kaden Elliss (sixth round). Depending on how things shake out with the comp picks formula, they could get another sixth rounder, but that doesn’t appear very likely. We won’t find out until March 2024 anyway.

We will have plenty of picks. We won’t be signing many big ticket free agents at all with our cap situation so we will get those comp picks. Getting 2 4th round picks would be huge but it needs to be worth a new staff drafting them. This is a solid, deep draft that you can find quality players on cheap rookie deals that can contribute early.

How did we waste our 2, 3 and 4 in this draft?

Fortunately we’re solid with the cap and have a pretty young roster.

We are in cap hell. We all know. We tried to tell those who bitched the entire Drew Brees era that this day was coming and here we are.
Kicking the can pretty much means you are keeping players and generally your team is getting older because of it.

The little bit of good news for us fans is that the D had a good year. In the most important defensive stat PPG given up we ranked 6th. Top ten in defensive TO's and passing yards allowed. Can Carr be better with a new OC?
Again a good #2 easiest schedule. Not sure the glass is half full yet but it ain't empty. Unless Loomis just does nothing and rolls it all out again in 24 we have a window for some success. Albeit a small one.

Good thing Loomis did his boy a favor. We never should've given up a 3rd for the Denver deal.

The best thing would be to tank.

New coach and 8 or so picks in the first 100 of the 2025 draft.

In addition to cap space.

Tank this year and get a top 3ish pick for 2025 while we eat the shite contracts without extending for relief. Kick the can no more.

2025 would be exciting with a new coach, cap space, and a boatload of picks.

We set up Lattimore's deal to trade him apparently. Hopefully we can cash him in for a nice pick

I don’t think we can get much for Lattimore. Probably end up with a late 2nd as the types of teams that would trade for him are the ones that are good and think they are one player away. Somebody like a Kansas City.

Yeah it’s gonna be a two at best. Which wouldn’t be bad value given his age if we can dump some of that.
