Get down on your knees and thank God that he is Drew Brees and not Tony Romo. 6 year extension, $108 mill, $55 mill guaranteed, $25 mill signing bonus... I think we did okay for ourselves... Keep it up Jerry, you're the best player on our team.

ETA: Food for thought: Adam Schefter ?@AdamSchefter 42m
Most guaranteed money in NFL history: Tom Brady, $57 million; Tony Romo, $55 million; Drew Brees, $55 million: Joe Flacco, $51 million.

Why do Saint's fans always compare themselves to the Cowboys? Its a 1-way rivalry, it seems.

That's often the case when a team is the most hated team in the league. That being said, I hate them because they are the Jets of the NFC. Always get so much hype for doing jack shite.

Then hate the hype machine. Same reason why hating on Tebow for "always being on ESPN" was fricking retarded. Hate ESPN for it.

People bitched when Favre told the Mora & the Saints he wanted $4 million a year. Saints fans said "PASS! There won't be enough money to field a competitive team around him."

So Green Bay re-signed Favre at $3.9 million a year, and two years later Favre won the Super Bowl, mysteriously with 52 other Packers who have rings.

I wanted Favre back then, and last year, I said, "Give Drew what he wants. 53 guys without Drew on the roster is a non-contender. Plus, in just few years, whatever price we think is 'way-too-high' now will look like a bargain."

Well, it didn't take a "few years". In less than a year, we've seen lesser QB's like Flacco & Romo get the same dollars reserved for elite QB's because teams get scared of how low their respective teams would fall without their above-average QB's.

Moral of the story: People need to stop bitching about Drew's contract and get some big picture perspective.

You should probably change your favorite team then. You're giving all is true fans a bad name.

Pretty sure the comparison was to show how much $$ the cowboys paid Tony " choke artist" Romo. It didn't read anything in his post that suggested anything to do with a rivalry. I live in Dallas , and the cowboys fans are egging Texas Stadium as we speak.

Thought it was obvious but apparently not to the Vermilion folk.

All I can figure is Tony Romo has some serious dirt on Jerry Jones, because this is crazy to pay Romo that kind of money. Their fans were hoping that Garrett and Romo would be gone. Now this. It is funny to watch their fans in full meltdown mode though

Well non-bias it's not THAT terrible. Their o-line blows, they have a very talented defense and young talent on offense for the most part. The qb draft class is weak and their is nothing in Free Agency. They are building around someone who is established. (He's not awful escaping the vast amount of pressure he gets on him, consequently he's not that great under pressure situations). I'm sure it averages out to the pay of a top 10 qb, which he arguably is.

I'm just pointing out that the fans who pay Jerry Jones outrageous prices to fill that beautiful stadium to watch these guys continue to lose and fail to make the playoffs are IRATE about it. I am not a Jerry Jones fan, and after living here for the last 10 years and seeing his pompous face on tv every chance he gets spouting off about this team like its the 90's, it would be hilarious to see a half empty stadium every Sunday .
