The Athlon Sports 2023 Fantasy Football Annual magazine reached out to team insiders at all 32 NFL clubs to ask them three key fantasy questions heading into the season. As we count down to training camp, Sports Illustrated will publish their answers here. Today’s team: New Orleans Saints

Does the team expect Alvin Kamara to get suspended? What’s the latest?

That is the expectation among the Saints coaching staff and front office. Kamara is expected to appear in court in Las Vegas right around the time the team reports for training camp, and once that case is resolved legally, New Orleans expects him to receive some sort of discipline from the league office. The Saints braced for this likelihood by signing free agent running back Jamaal Williams and selecting TCU running back Kendre Miller in the third round.

What will Taysom Hill’s role be? New Orleans went into 2022 with the idea that it would mostly play Hill at tight end, but it became clear as the season progressed that Hill was a bit miscast in that role. The expectation going into this season is that he’ll slot back into the position he played so well toward the tail end of 2022, which saw him playing the majority of his snaps in the backfield as a run-first quarterback option. That will likely decrease his snap count, but he’ll still be good for seven to nine touches per game.

Is Michael Thomas healthy heading into 2023?
This is the roughly $5 million question — or about how much in contract incentives Thomas has on the line this year. Thomas has been posting workout videos to his social media this offseason, but the Saints will bring him along slowly after he’s missed most of the last three seasons. While Thomas might sit out minicamps and OTAs, the Saints are optimistic he’ll be on the field for training camp and, finally, contributing during the regular season.

Three very relevant questions. IMHO if the team had the same ine-up of rb's this year behind Kamara as we had last year we would be in deep trouble. It's not a question of if but when he gets suspended I feel much better with Jamaal Williams and Miller in this roster.

As far as Taysom is concerned Carmichael is going to have to up his snap count particularly from a designed run play view. Taysom averaged 6 yds. per carry last year. That's money in the bank.

Everybody knows how valuable a healthy M.T. is to the offense. Even if he starts out a half step slow his game isn't totally predicated on pure speed but on positioning himself between the ball and the defender. He showed that when he played with the injury. His mere presence on the field makes the defense account for him. We still need 100% of what he's got.

If these 3 areas of concern line up for the organization that is huge.
