Being how pressed we are against the cap coupled with holes in the roster, I think the Saints need to release their starting RT as well (along with rescinding Ivory's tender, or working out a trade for a low draft pick).
We also have Marcel Jones who may be able to man that spot.

He would be an upgrade, can we come close to offering him enough money?

I love it, just love it. Every mediocre QB's will be making higher than the last QB when his deal is up. And each time it ruins the team cap wise and it's time to cutbait. Just real bad precedent going on. Thats gonna take real good teams (just like the Saints) that built the team on diamonds in the rough and making good gambling decisions on undervalued players, spiral downward. At least the Saints capitalized and won a superbowl before the run ended. Take Dallas, they now literally have 0 shot at contending. They already had too many holes and now they signed an avaerage QB that hasn't won them squat, hasn't proven he can carry a team, etc. to the top deal. See yah Dallas. Baltimore, same with Flacco, look whats happening, spiral. Again, at least go a SB win. Saints, can they regroup?, maybe so, but it's still tough. There realing right now. Alot is the bounty thing, but Brees contract may actually be a bargain in 2 years.

So do we want this guy?

Couple of things.
A) Matt Ryan is better than average. In comparison, the Romo deal is sort of perplexing.
B) The release of Clabo probably has very little to do with Matt Ryan.

Only if he signs with us. If not, he's a thug POS, that sucks and will never amount to anything.

I second this!
Now if we could just get a Braves board added to this place, we'd be set!

He is an above average starter, but I have to disagree with Clabo having little to do with the new deal. I've been looking forward to this ever since Romo signed his deal.
