Ok, well, when QB's threw into Maxwell's coverage, they came away with a passer rating of 78.5.
With Culliver?
66.5.
Yes please.
And Maxwell's 78.5 is pretty damn good itself.

Yeah, no doubt.
But if I know about Culliver's abilities, you can be sure the GM's do, as well.
Sure, he hasn't won a superbowl; but I just don't see how we can pay him what he'll want.
But I didn't think we'd be able to pay Byrd either, so...

I'm basing my projection on some other people's projections (Rotoworld, OTC, a few others). Everyone expected Maxwell to be the highest paid FA CB. PFF says Culliver is better, and we're thinking that he might be, but places that have some connections with agents/GMs knew that Maxwell would be paid more. Most said that Kareem Jackson would be the 2nd highest paid.

Well, it could be a Lewis situation.
No one expected Lewis to be as good as he has been with us.
And he's been a bargain.

Being that he took $8.5m amd turned down more and we were the only team mentioned(they never said teams or implied there were others in the tweet) I would have to think we were the ones offering more. So that would put us in the $9m range and Culliver won't get more than that.
Williams will be even cheaper and we've had luck before stealing a CB from GB.
I have to think McClain is strictly a nickel back for us. I'd be okay with that.

I figured that there's no way that only two teams were going after arguably the #1 CB in FA. And there are a handful of bad teams that have tons of capspace and a need for a CB. My guess is that we were in the range of what Houston offered, but not above. Regardless, we're probably talking a difference of maybe ~$2-3m over 4 years. Jackson probably just liked it and Houston. Plus Texas doesn't have an income tax, which gives them a solid advantage on keeping players that may not necessarily be buying homes.

I think Jackson realized he won't face as many good/great QB's in the AFC as he would in the NFC,
It also helps he plays with JJ Watt and has Romeo Crennel as a Defensive Co ordinator. He was in a great situation.

That may have been around a 1% factor in his decision.

He played 14 games.
yeah, I knew he was pretty active. Cleveland was in the Top 10 in pass defense.
but i see some of his PFF scores here. I guess perception isn't always reality. My guess is he was targeted a lot playing opposite of Joe Haden.
He had 4 interceptions and 18 passes defended. That's about the same with what Joe Haden had. Skrine had one more interception but not as many passes defended.
