No, Drew Brees can't see past the 7 figure salary he banks every year. Even if those guys had been conservative in their spending and saving...they'd still be borderline broke...would still not have healthcare...would still lack disability benefits.

Since when did playing professional sports entitle anyone to be set up for life?

Set up for life? What do you think they make in their pension. They got $12K a year added to it if they played X amount of years and depending on what they paid in. Thats before taxes. Set up for life? Seriously?

Not to mention, people have sued companies for exposing them to Aesbestos and other chemicals...who said the players couldn't sue for faulty equipment that endangered their lives with these concussions. All part of the game I presume. There have been cases whereas companies have paid out more in damages and penalties with less evidence against than the disability and health benefits the retired players are asking for.

And you ask me why I think your opinion is retarded and short sighted.

Unbelievable, it's like talking to a wall. I didn't say they were set up for life genius

But again, you're failing to demonstrate what this has to do with current players and what they make.

OK??? I still don't see what that has to do with Pastorini's financial situation and how it is related to what players make today.

Yeah I had a gold fish once. Oh what's that? I'm sorry I thought we were talking about completely unrelated bullshite that has nothing to do with the original post.

No, you said, "Since when did playing professional sports entitle anyone to be set up for life?" You're implying they're asking to be setup for life. English MFer, not Engrish. Do you use it?

They're asking for a better pension. More health benefits. Disability. You know, regular Unions seek for their retired members or already have.

Failing to demonstrate? It has everything to do with the Current NFLPA being that they distribute and administer the benefits. How are you not connecting these dots? What do they owe them? Well, lets see...they did build the foundation. The economy has just boomed over the past 20 years to provide those salaries. The game was not less popular yesterday than it is today.

Why is Pastorini's situation having anything to do with this. Brees said F the retired players and lumped them all together settling for $1,000.00 a month extra and hoping that kicks the dirt off the tires. Tell me if that pays an insurance deductible, genius. No, probably because you have no experience with that. If they increased the health coverage, then no, $1K a month wouldnt be an issue.

You're right, employees who work in hazerdous conditions but are given faulty safety equipement that hurts them in the long run has no merit. Just like the countless hazerdous work enviroment lawsuits willing employees worked under only to be duped into believing they were safe. You're right, they assumed the risk for that 20K they made a year.

You obviously have no sense.

Nobody is crying for Pastorini. He sounds like he mismanaged his money. He doesn't represent every retired player out there.

Yeah, because Drew Brees was the lone decision maker for the NFLPA. Whats stupid is that all of these idiots think that just because he was the vocal one, he is the one thats sticking it to him when its actually the NFLPA, which they aren't technically apart of because it was formed in 92-93ish.

Brees wasn't the lone decision maker but he's a face they can put to it. NFLPA hasn't done enough for their old retired players. If they lumped them into their current health plans, they'd be satisfied...instead they don't because that'd drive premiums up, thus reducing revenue for the players.

The NFLPA isn't obligated to because those players aren't in the NFLPA. If anything, the owners should give more to those guys, but you don't see them attacking their former employers. The double standard is ridiculous.

ETA: An, in this newest CBA, the current players fought to have put in place a "Legacy" fund for those older players and they got the owners to put into it as well, thus increasing their pension. I don't know the exact details, but that is something they did not have to do.

Actually they are part of the Union. It was started in the 50s but didnt actually do anything serious until the late 1960s. Any action on behalf of the retired players has to come from the NFLPA.

Dan Pastorini, who just last year crashed his MERCEDES while driving drunk, is bitching because his $1700 monthly stipend won't cover his rent... and we're supposed to feel sorry for him because the current players didn't make a big enough allowance for him? frick this guy. He made more in one season than I make in a multiple year span, but I still get by.

Also, frick this guy. Seriously. I have a wife and three kids and I support them on a hell of a lot less than the money he made in his career. And you know what? You don't see me asking for a damn handout. I get by on my own because that is what is fricking expected of me as an adult. Who's fault is it that Dan fricking Pastorini can't manage his own life It's not mine, it's not the NFL's, and it sure as hell isn't Drew's.

So, to in summation... frick Dan Pastorini. frick him up his stupid arse.
