You're right, employees who work in hazerdous conditions but are given faulty safety equipement that hurts them in the long run has no merit. Nobody is crying for Pastorini. He sounds like he mismanaged his money. He doesn't represent every retired player out there.

Brees wasn't the lone decision maker but he's a face they can put to it. NFLPA hasn't done enough for their old retired players. If they lumped them into their current health plans, they'd be satisfied...instead they don't because that'd drive premiums up, thus reducing revenue for the players.

Actually they are part of the Union. It was started in the 50s but didnt actually do anything serious until the late 1960s. Any action on behalf of the retired players has to come from the NFLPA.

Dan Pastorini, who just last year crashed his MERCEDES while driving drunk, is bitching because his $1700 monthly stipend won't cover his rent... and we're supposed to feel sorry for him because the current players didn't make a big enough allowance for him? frick this guy. He made more in one season than I make in a multiple year span, but I still get by.
