it really amazes me how outright lazy the media is when it comes to the saints this season. No analysis for the most part, they just repeat super bowl hangover about 10 times.

couldn't agree more but you have to remember above all its their job to sell their product...if they don't push NOLA they are out a VERY small market/region. If they push Dallas/Favre(still widely popular)/New York...lots more are going to tune in. Its not really right but its the reality of their business.

I've never seen drew not be able to make a throw cuz his arm wasn't strong enough. Have you?? JR could throw 65 yards from one knee and couldn't complete a 15 yard out route

he has a strong, but not elite arm. he's one of the top 2-3 accurate passers as well.

He moves in the pocket better than probably 2/3 of the QB's, he's definitely an above average athlete.

i agree.

so if his arm is not elite how can you say that all of his physical tools are great.

some of you are far too sensitive. Not you pilot, the people in this thread whining b/c i don't think his physical tools compare with anyone else in the league. they just don't.

But, like i already said it can be argued that he is the best QB. So why do physical tools matter so much once you are at a certain level?

If he was simply 6'3, he'd be looked at as a guy who "has all the tools".

And this!

If Drew was 5'8 he would still be as good as he is at 6'0. He is arguably the most accurate QB in the league, maybe in the history of the NFL. But people don't realize it and always compliment Mannings accuracy. After this Superbowl, people are starting to realize it. But I think its going to take another one to surpass Manning.

Two Dat?

whoa now...while you don't HAVE to be 6'3", 5'8" would change a lot.

Aaron Rodgers is a hell of an athlete. Jay Cutler as well, too bad he is a retard.

Brees is a very good athlete, he just doesn't have the prototypical size that people look for in an NFL QB.

Vick and VY are athletic freaks of nature. Obtw, neither has yet proven to be a legitimate NFL QB.

If there's one thing I hate about sports it's how once you are given an attribute, you become extremely stereotyped into that certain category. Brees is the "smart and athletic" QB so people make it seem like he's fvcking Chad Pennington.

Anyone who says Brees isn't exceptionally athletic is a clown. 1st, the guy can dunk with full pads on at 6 feet. There's not a single person on this board who can say that, not one. 2nd, the guy beat Andy Roddick in tennis before he quit and focused solely on football.

And people questioning Brees' arm strength are simply saying that because he's not 6'4 and haven't seen him do DirecTV commercials about his "rocket arm" (yes I'm talking about you Peyton Manning). There's not a single throw Brees can make, from the deep in to the corner to the seam.

Quit regurgitating the things people hear and making assumptions; watch the guy play and if you continue to think that Brees is an unathletic QB who hides his noodle arm with his Einstein-esque brains then do us all a favor and start watching a different sport.

It's a peculiar dynamic to constantly equate anyone disagreeing with you as being "too sensitive."

My only point here had to do woth Elway's poibt in saying Drew's physical talents "don't compare" with other quarterbacks. I just couldn't think of more than 2 or 3 QBs in the league who necessarily struck me as being head and shoulders beyond Drew's league in the total package physical talent department. In seeing the replies to my point, I've seen nothing to change my mind.

I don't think Elway was slamming him or anything. I just think it's a silly mindset to assume because a QB is a 6 ft white guy, he's automatically some sort of "gritty over-achiever." I've seen the guy physically do plenty of amazing things that I doubt many other QBs could ever pull off.

Pretty much sums it up. It's almost as bad as people saying all black QBs get by off their physical talents alone.

Off the top of my head I think the following guys have better physical attributes. total package of strength, speed, arm strength, quickness:

Vick
Young
Cutler
Rodgers
Stafford
Sanchez

i'm sure there are more.

none of them are close to Brees as a QB.

Comparing dunking with 10-15 pounds of equipment on to a sport that John Daly and Man Boobs Mickelson succeed at is pretty ridiculous.
