Drew Brees Stat Thread

Not only is he averaging more yards (334 to 316) and td's a game... he's doing it with nearly 6 less attempts per game. He's completing 75% of his passes and has increased his average yards per attempt.
Amazing he is improving his efficiency and if he keeps this up, there's no way the Saints won't do magical things this year.

Another treat:
Consider lets say Drew throws for 4900 yds this year and he's healthy next year as well and lets say throws for 4800 yards... He would be 15th on the NFL all time passing list and will be moving up very quickly year after year.

Brett Favre is the all time NFL leading passer (for now)
After each of their first 9 seasons, Drew Brees will probably be leading Brett slightly in passing yards for their careers. Drew just needs to play 10 more seasons averaging at least 3800 yards a season or make up the difference in shorter time.

of Saints records-
-in lifetime Saints yds passing at the start of the season he was 5246 behind Manning and 7824 behind AB
-he has 3 of the top 4 QB ratings for a season
-TD passes, currently 18 behind Manning and 23 behind AB
-#3 in completions, 7 ahead of Hebert (3yrs vs. 7, tho a different game and team style)
-Sacked: Manning 340, Brooks 209, Hebert 119, Brees (gulp) 50

He's got 177 td's in his career. After this year, he should have at least 200 or so. He'll need to reach 300 to be top 5 in NFL passing td history. Easily doable over the next 3-4 years IMO.

This is what makes him so good. He always looks for ways to improve his game. Dude is a machine.

Isn't his qb rating around 134 as well?

Yeah, nearly 133... the single season record is 121.1 by Peyton Manning. Something else to keep a keen eye on. He needs to keep his int's down and it'll be on like donkey slong.

Also noticed when updating my Saints History site...
Brees needs 52 yards passing to move to #3 as a Saint.
Currently:
Archie Manning 21,734
Aaron Brooks 19,156
Bobby Hebert 14,630
Drew Brees 14,579

Also has the highest completion rate - 66.0%

Drew Brees currently has a career passer rating of 90.3. The NFL record is 96.8 by Steve Young. Certainly attainable with some better years to increase the avg IMO.

Let's assume that Drew Brees leads the league in passing again this year. This will be the 3rd year doing so.
The NFL record (2 guys tied) is 5 seasons Again, pretty attainable by Drew.

I love me some breesus but it might be time for a Official Brees Discussion Thread to be stickied, Currently, there are 10 threads bringing up points about him on the first page. Agree? Someone start one like that and we can all RA sticky it.
