hmmmmm
it's been brutal down here, worse than "normal" and that is saying a fricking mouthful

yeah, well that thread died right after I posted. I overheard this info this weekend from someone who had lunch with Drew last week. You don't have to like it, just remember you heard it.

I love Brees and what he's done for new Orleans and the Saints, but if this is true (which it probably isn't, lol) I have to agree with mrs. Brees. I wouldn't want to raise my kids anywhere near NO.

Saints Management hasnt exactly had the best track record with these issues, you cant have players have career years and expect to keep them for under market value, Drew deserves the money not simply bc of the on the field accolades but the worth and image he has brought to the franchise and the city itself, PAY HIM

And there was a guy who had his daughters crying cause there friends, Payton's daughters were moving away.
His info turned out to be right but that didn't mean anyone should have taken it for anything more than internet message board rumors and same for your info. I mean you "overheard" it

Also, that type of thing matters more when you aren't talking about guy who is negotiating a deal worth at least $18 million annually.
Plenty of high profile pro players do not live in the city they play in.

That's exactly what I said. I overheard it in a work situation. It was actually a phone call someone was having next to me. It was a person who most Saints fans would eves drop on if they were having a Saints related phone call close to. Don't mean to be that cryptic guy but it's the way it's gotta be.

Never said the contrary. I just said that it's a dynamic in the reason a deal hasn't gotten done.

So not only is this an internet rumor, it's really HALF an internet rumor, cause you only "overheard" half the phone conversation.

dynamic how? Is it your theory that Drew has Tom Condon going to Loomis and saying "We need an extra $3 million for Brit to get over her feelings about NO?"
If her feelings on NO were an actual factor in this process it would be towards moving on from the Saints entirely not getting more money.

Where did he bitch? What did he say? I haven't heard any reports or quotes come out of Brees yet.
Exactly, all we have heard is media bullshite, and you know how easily they can distort the truth. I think Drew has too much class to come out and bitch about the situation, he would probably just use the word 'disappointed' that a deal couldn't get worked out.

Never thought I would see the day where any Saints fan, even a small minority, would turn on Drew Brees. Yet that's exactly what they are doing. Amazing
I say pay the man. You can take people off of Bourbon St. for Brees to throw to and he will be successful, as Tony Cornheiser said years back.....

Right. They should pay him like they paid Will fricking Smith.

ETA: My only point being that the idea that the modern day Saints are not willing to pay for talent is bullshite.

No intellectualy honest NFL fan is going to be pissed because the Saints offered a Drew a $14 million dollar deal(which is a lowball offer in terms of Drew's talent and where QB contracts are) and he turned it down
The Saints last offer was far above $14mm.
I will repeat that they offered him a deal last year that would have made him the highest paid player in the NFL. Condon and Brees turned it down. That fact has been reported repeatedly on more than one media outlet and it has not been contradicted.
Likewise, it appears that last week the Saints were at $18mm and Brees was at $23mm. From multiple sources. Apparently, and if true it's a little disappointing, the structure of the deal from the Brees camp is a cap killer for the upcoming season.
Hell, even at the franchise tag salary, the Saints are going to have trouble re-signing people they want to keep and paying for new help.

That's not Drew Brees' problem.

yea, i have zero belief in your credibility.

can you tell me how the deals were structured please?

You obviously didn't take the time to read my post and figure out the context it was said in.

The guy I sit next to at work and I overheard him talking to Drew Brees. Brees only wanted $15m a year but the Saints offered $20 and Brees said "Nah that's too much" Word. For. Word.
